Looking for input on potential trouble..

Ok I'm finding that I'm getting some shuddering when planting the power down. I dont know how to really explain it but say for instance I'm turning left or right and put the foot down (not to whel spin) I get a shuddering coming fro the rear, hard to pin point but either left side or from diff. When I stop and then start slowly I get small clunk as well. This is a recent occurence. My thoughts are either the diff is screwing up or driftshaft cv's are on the way out.

When starting from standing position and put the foot down there is shuddering as well. Had a look under the car and cant see any oil leaks and everything visibly looks ok (mind you quick look only as only 3c outside today). I've got carbon tailshaft due to go in this week(probably next) so was get them to have a gander at everything but thought I"d post up here and see what peoples opinions are..

cheers

No clunk...if I take off really slowly I hear the slightest clunk noise but its cornering slowly and then putting the power down is when I get the shuddering.

Its at workshop being checked today so will see what they have to say tomorrow.

Sorry bit slow with feed back...

Well my tuner plus guys at HKS have both had a look and either cant hear or feel the noise and cant pinpoint it to anything.

I changed my wheels the other 2 days ago tp put my snow wheels/tyres on for winter and had a good suss. The only thing I could find is the right rear has slight play when rotated hub back and forth so maybe there is slack in the pre-load.

As far as oil in the diff not 100% but Nismo changed it when I bought the car 1 year ago so reckon they put the good stuff in. They did full check on the car before I bought it.

I know the guys at HKS here pretty well and they are building me motor and doing heap of work so we're going on the basis if it blows we'll replace it. The motor will be built and tuned for around an easy 600ps and could easily pushed for alot more. The drive train hopefully will be built to be bullet proof.

I"ll be posting up the build elsewhere as well as impending divorce when the misso sees how much it will all cost!!

    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
    • I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while.
    • yeah the south island is stunning, the wifes family is from the west coast down there so we were down there for christmas.   a high 10 would be a stretch but hilarious if it happened. fourth gear is its party gear, i don't have traction to throw more at it at lower speeds. I've found passengers don't think its that fast, i think it's because it has a digital dash so they can't see the needle move so they have no sense of speed
    • You have (externally anyway) a lot of patience!  At the very least your patience has rewarded you financially even if you decided you were over it!! I only just read your first experience of seeing the car, that would have been amazing!  Well documented too! It must be exciting knowing there's only 10 months left until you can get it on a boat and on it's way!!!???
