Hey guys and girls,

Looking to do a manual conversion on a R33 Skyline RB25DE. I have a few Q's about this. And BTW, I have gone through about 15-20 pages and can't find it...so I have searched.

1. What gearbox should I go for? RB25DE or RB20DET? Which is more readily available?

2. What parts are need exactly?

3. What is the price of something like this?

I know this may be a common post but for the life of me i cant seem to find much information. Also, If anybody knows of a manual conversion to suit this car/engine combo could you post it up.

Thankyou in advance

Pete

1. doesn't really matter, the rb25de one would have had an easier life.

2. gearbox, ecu, tail shaft, clutch, flywheel, loom, interior fascia, wiring for reverse, master slave cylinder, pedals + custom work to fit them in the cabin and probably a lot more

3. i'd budget about 1-3 grand. depending on what you can obtain second hand and what you want brand new (i.e. clutch, etc).

edit: here's a DIY thread, it's for an R32 but the same concept still applies. try searching around a little more this way you'll have a full understanding of what's involved before you actually undertake the task. that way you can ask yourself if it's really worth it.

cheers

i did a manual conversion to my old 32. cost around $800 all up with parts & labour.

scored the conversion for for real cheap!

you'll need manual gearbox, clutch, flywheel + manual flywheel bolts, manual gb crossmember, clutch master & slave cylinder + lines & bolts, manual brake pedal & clutch pedal, interior shifter surround, manual gearbox wiring loom ( get the reverse lights to work), manual tailshaft. you can ise the auto ECU as i did that on my 32.

if you are in no rush, shop around for the parts & you will save some cash :) gl with it and let us know how you go.

The R33 RB25de gear box is the one you want as it's less hassle when it comes to getting the speedo sorted The R32 RB20DET gear box has a mechanical speedo drive (cable) where's the R33 is electric, they can be altered to suit though.
