Ryanrb25
Thanks tangles. At the end of the day, it doesn't really phase me, I think people on here are big enough and ugly enough to make up their own mind. Thanks. SkyHi_33
Almost got rid of the flat spot!! still there but only a bit. The k&n pod filter it had on was effing horrific. Had so much dirt on the bottom and side that its beyond belief.. Inside of it wasn't bad though but still :| Replaced with a dodgee supercheap pod i had lying around for a while untill i get a better one. Runs a fair bit better now, got better response and minimal flat spot! Also, if anyone wants to save a bit of money on a timing belt kit (belt, tensioner, idler, seal?), clicky below: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=180164504375 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/244229-complete-service-costs/page/4/#findComment-4262073 Share on other sites

Ryanrb25
+1 I only ever use genuine parts. Well unless the price is ridiculous. Nissan parts were made for Nissans and i figure the amount of time and money they would invest on engineering and R&D in comparison to some much smaller company on a budget tells me something. Cubes
Unsure on the gates but I have had to use dayco belts in the rb30det. They appear to be fairly good as it was still in good nick after the recent 100,000km belt/waterpump etc change i performed. $37 I can't complain. If I could I'd go Nissan. Just so much easier lining up those timing marks as the belt has marks on it so its a no brainier. webng
Back on topic... with the big/complete/100k service cost, I am going to take my stag to Boostworx (been there, love their work, going again) but was wondering if it would save me money to buy all/most of the parts and get them to do the labour. Was thinking of getting one of these Service kits from Kudo's ( http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...vi-t137554.html ) for $518 and all the necessary oils and fluids. What do you guys think? Is it more cost effective or do the boys at Boostwork get their parts cheaper you think? Cubes
Wouldn't bother.. Let them source the parts. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/244229-complete-service-costs/page/4/#findComment-4262570 Share on other sites
SkyHi_33
the amount of time and money they would invest on engineering and R&D in comparison to some much smaller company on a budget tells me something. Apparently most small firms and companies generally just copy the product entirely or make small adjustments. Usually they are of same quality but are cheaper due to copying a part costing a lot less than developing one from scratch. I had a talk to one of my uni teachers about a similar topic on aftermarket parts... that's what he told me. He used to work for Nissan designing the Navara and helped with a few others along the way in japan a few years ago. Ryanrb25
meh, for what its worth, dont be a tight arse and use genuine shit, It's made for it. It may be all the same dimentions, length and teeth amount etc, but material quality is another whole ball game. Just my opinion. SkyHi_33
Yeh bit late now.. already ordered the kit myself... if we got on to this a bit earlier probably would have gone genuine. Will compare it with genuine belt when it arrives. You still up for doing the service Ryan?
