Charity Car Cruise 30th Nov Official Breast Cancer Cruise

Recommended Posts

Have you got anything in writing from the authorities stating that no cars will be defected if they are part of your event? Some mates and I might be keen on going, but not if it turns into a full on defect station like some other events in the past.

um i really dont think you would be able to get something like that....they aren't exactly going to say "yes we will let illegally modified vehicles drive on public roads because its for a good cause"

So I guess the organizer should change the event details then - I'd hate for people to bring their pride and joys to the event only to have their asses reamed.

I figured as much though, no such arrangement could possibly be reached as you are not putting on a stationary show - you are driving on a public road.

Gee... very encouraging... I guess if I come I should keep on cruising then.

Promogirlz Promotions has been working on getting this event right for months, it is planned and well thought out!

AS THE ORGANISER of this event - i expect all vehicles to be on their best behaviour, the local police have never given me any problems with my Skyline.

But obviously ppl need to be aware that it only takes one person to ruin it for everyone else as long as no one drives recklessly i dont see why there would be any issues as the Local Police and all organisations know all about it.

This is not Eastern Creek Dragway, I encourage you and your mates to come as this is going to be a FABULOUS DAY.

Off that subject and onto something else i have driven the route today to ensure that the road has no major damage etc

I would like to report that

a. There are no potholes the road has actually just been resealed recently

b. The Route is extremely scenic and beautiful :D)

c. It takes just over an hour for the round trip

Same as every other organised charity event that has happened lately.

The only time a charity event like this went bad was AFTER the event had finished...

A couple of years ago Hot4s arranged a cruise up to the Central Coast, and the cops set up a massive defect station at the Gosford turn-off. There was a big whinge about it on car forums, since the cops had said (or the organisers had said the cops had said) that they wouldn't be defecting people.

Of course, the idiots blocking off the F3 in the afternoon for rolling runs on the way home means it was probably pre-emptively deserved.

I was a definite maybe for this, but unfortunately it's on the same day as the V35 cruise. :D

I'll be there in spirit. If there's one thing I believe we should be taking care of in this world, its boobs.

Promogirlz Promotions and Models is holding a Car Cruise Charity Day “Cruise for Christine” on the 30th of November to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

The cruise for Breast Cancer Awareness is on Sunday the 30th of October 2008 and starting at The Mean Fiddler.

The cost is still $10 per car. Open to all makes and model cars, bikes etc.

If you are worried about going on the cruise you dont have to partake in it. You can come for the car show in the morning and after lunch.

Its about raising money for a good cause.

Regards

no probs, just cos u mentioned 2 different dates in ur above post...do we have an idea on how many cars are attending?

We are expecting over 50 cars hoping for about 200 but as you know with these things - ppl decide in the morning, we are praying the weather will behave as well as this will obviously impact the turnout.

This Cruise is a little diff from other events so im hoping for a terrific turnout.

Promogirlz Promotions and Models is a new Company in the Northwest providing models for Hot 4's, Fusion Electronics, The Mean Fiddler, Unseen TV we have a Silver Nissan Skyline that we use to get from a - b and will also be interested in talking to ppl on the day about doing a track run in the new year.

If anyone wants any further info don't hesitate to ask.

    • Yes, but it's not as easy as pulling a fuse on anything other than an R32. There's a routine you have to do, involving disconnecting a loom plug and bleeding down the preload.
    • A question for tuning awd, is it possible to disable the AWD? The stagea is an EA/T AWD, Toshi had said on a GTR, he was able to disable it and make it 2wd. Just wanted to double check if this was possible
    • Whoa, that's a name I've not see for a long time! Sorry to hear about the engine / turbo damage.  Fwiw with any engine problems it often really a case of just seeing what happens when it's apart, ymmv - I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the damage isn't even from the turbo failure, or possibly from a combination.  The airflow between cylinders isn't dead even, injectors can go off over time as well, with the turbos overboosting if you didn't have upgraded fuel system there could have possibly been a bit of leaning out - stock triggering is often a bit unreliable by this age too.  Basically its an old engine and a few things could have been going on, and you won't know how much work is needed until the engine is apart.
    • I'm just shocked there's a euro driver on our roads who is thinking of other road users and not attempting to blind everyone. I wonder if Prank uses his indicator too...
    • Its hard to tell really. The Q50 owner's forum talks about it a lot and has quite a few people directly affected, but no idea what % of cars sold actually had the block replaced. Also, there seem to be 2 distinct issues which both get diagnosed by Infiniti as requiring a block replacement (no wonder they are going broke) 1. "Porous block" where coolant mixes with oil through thin or poorly cast parts of the block 2. Head coolant gallery plugs not sealing. If I was noticing engine coolant loss I'd start with cooling system pressure test (as always) and then I'd pull the cam covers and reseal the coolant gallery plugs on both side before worrying about a potentially porous block.  If neither of those did the trick it would be put in a second hand engine out of japan; I haven't checked pricing but I'm sure there are plenty around by now as they've been in production 10+ years
