How Do You Get Number Plates?

Probably a stupid question. I'm getting my Roadworthy inspeciton on thursday and hoping to rego it on the same day following it. When do the plates come in? Do I have to wait for them to post them or what?

when you go down to the shopfront to pay for rego etc etc, they will give you number plates. they have a stack in every shopfront in case people have plates stolen etc etc.

they should even be able to write down what they have so you can choose...or maybe u jsut have to ask nicely.

The NSW RTA has a web site where you can type in your preferred rego combo's/number/s. it will tell you if they are available or already issued to someone else. you can then keep trying till you find something you want.

The ACT equivalent should have something similar.......
