um, its a bit of work..

I did some work on mine with help from my flatmate. Once somebody shows you the basics its pretty easy.. but depends what you need fixed up. Somethings often its best just to buy a new bar if its a serious crack or split...as when resprayed (apparently) it will just all crack up again if the fibreglass job isn't 100%. Thats why I've had to buy a new bar.

I recommend you go to a boat shop rather than using any off the shelf kit.. heaps cheaper

you'll need:

1. big tin of polyester resin

2. some "sanding filler" (if you want to make some filler paste)

3. weave matting (not the really flakey stuff)

4. Hardener

5. Paintbrush (that will get thrown away)

Should cost you under $50. There is a place near BoxHill that i got all my stuff from.. i can give you the details if you are near there.

how bad is the damage you wanna repair??

Usually if you patch up fiberglass spoilers you will lose strength and damage will reappear quickly(personal experience)....it is best to get a new bar, but if you insist on repairing it, one option is to take it to a fiberglass repairer....i know of a couple of workshops who custom designed a spoiler kit for my datsun, they will look after you...

if you wanna fix it yourself, go to paintmobile in dandenong and they will give you whats necessary to fix your bar...

i might give it a shot myself...

bodytech make a fibreglass repair kit for 21.95 at kmart, that includes everything that ya listed gordo.

and jetdat, the damage is heavy cracks due to hits, mainly on the exterior of the bar... i dont mind running around with grey patches, coz the bar needed to get a clear coat over it anywayz... so it'll be up for a respray once its repaired.

Hey coco i gotta fix my bottom lip too. I was told that fixing it up would cost bout half the price of gettin a new one. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to fix a gtr bottom lip?

well considering you can buy a bodytech kit for 22 bucks at kmart, and gordo said that all the raw parts only cost him 50 bucks, i'd imagine that i would cost around those prices...

the only thing is the trouble of fixing it yurself.

as for taking it to a place to get it fixed, i got no idea, but eitherway ya gotta add the price of getting it painted as well. so i figure if its possible to save on the repair, then i'll prolly do it myself.

they supply the bar for about $500.. fitting and painting is extra (which they also do down there) but i don't think they are too much of a ripoff. I'd go there rather than stuffing around with a panel shop.

hey guys, managed to repair my front bar myself with a mate today...

got gross looking white patches, but its very very smooth and should look good as standard once its painted...

hmmz speaking of, might give it a try myself too..
