what engine? RB20 approx. 3.9, RB25 approx. 4.1 give or take. I'll check out the real figures and get back to you, but the 'real' figures never mean much. My 25 is supposed to take 4.1 with an oil filter, but your usually flat getting 3.7 or 8 in it. If it was a totally dry engine [after a rebuild maybe] then you might get the spec figure in.

After i started mine and let it settle, the oil was about half way on the dipstick, I could maybe put another 100-200cc in and get to 3.9 or 4 litres, but thats it.

You need to borrow someone elses dipstick, but usually if you overfill, it will burn heaps of blue smoke, just blow it out in clouds. I'd have a look at your oil container, you might have purchased a 4 litre one instead of a 5 litre?

na i was only joking...its the right dipstick..well i put 5 lt in n it was 5lt bottle n i recon it is about 200mls over which make it about 4.8 but that is rb20..i have always done this on a vl..then vl rb20 &r32 no blue smoke no problem..but 2 answer the original question jus put oil in til its up2 the full mark

ok thanks, because i lost a shit load of oil because my sandwich plate was leaking pretty bad and it took me a week to see it (no oil temp or oil pressure changes), i was told that the oil level was still over full level but i dunno if the guy who tightnd it all up knew what he was on about seing that its still leaking....

atleast its only 1 or 2 drops in 24hrs,,,, before it was dripping at 1 drop every 3 seconds when the car was warm and idleing lol
