I was talking to my commodore loving boss the other day and he was telling me how much turbo cars benefit from racing chips, and / or computer.... being a bit stupid when it comes to stuff like that i was wondering if this was true, and if so how much performance for how many dollars will one of these chips/ compters give me??

$1000 wont get you an aftermarket ecu. Cheapest ones start around $1300-$1400 plus fitting and tuning, so probabaly around the $2000 mark drive in and out. Basically its hard to say how much peak power you will pickup as it depends on what other mods you have done. But the std nissan ecu runs very rich and you will gain a huge amount of mid-range to top end power. To give you an idea I'm getting about 322hp @ 12psi currently with my setup (I put in a bigger fuel pump and it richened the fuel back up as the stock fuel pump was getting too lean for my liking) when I put in my wolf3d and get it tuned I hope to make around 360-370hp with 1 bar or less of boost. But the biggest thing will be the much improved midrange through advancing the timing and running the fuel a bit leaner. I'm also hoping for a bit better spoolup from my td06-20g turbo, I plan to fit an adjustable cam gear to the exhaust cam at the same time too.
