High Powered Rb's And Burnouts....

I am going to summernats this year and was thinking about entering the burnout comp, I also would like to enter power cruise next year as well.

My question is, about the RB oil issues, I know there are problems with high revs and oil control but my question is, how about reving high for 2 minutes flat?

4th gear and 240km'h wheel spin at 6000 to 7000 rpm, I was thinking that it may be impossible without a dry sump setup and some serious oil returns.

Anyone have any ideas ? or should i just scrap the whole idea alltogether. I am not going to go with a dry sump setup, i just do not want to spend that kinda money when i will only really need it for burnouts.

I am a big burnout fan from years ago, I have won a few comps but back then the other cars are nothing compared to what I will be up against at these events.

So yeah I know its been covered before for track cars and street cars, but what about 6000rpm for 2 minutes flat. I will be spraying water over the radiator & oil cooler to keep the temps at acceptable levels.

I am running a N1 pump, so it would probly empty the sump completly after about 30 seconds or less

any ideas anyone?

I would consider a massive custom sump, just for the comp, if you can 12 or 13 litres down there then it will take a lot longer to cook the oil, and a lot more oil to have to displace before the pickup gets air.

Also a small thermofan mounted on the oil cooler springs to mind if you'll be in one space for that long

Head to sump oil drain

Big oil cooler

500ml of extra oil

Dump the clutch, hold it flat and pray to baby jesus that she holds together

how about a trust baffeed sump that wont be quite so massive like a 2nd fuel tank...

Water spray on anything that makes heat, diff, gearbox radiator, oil cooler, intercooler, just do some ghetto setup with irrigation sprayers, $100 spent here could easily save $$$$'s Hope you have an oil temp gauge.

Once the tires are spinning you are not full throttle, right? it isn't the revs, it is the amount of continuous power output that generates heat.

7000 rpm at average 1/3 throttle is not the same as 7000 rpm wide open throttle.

and aren't the rb oil issues mostly related to g-forces? the trust sump is big to avoid oil starvation during high g, baffles in the sump

Finally... something along the lines i am looking for... Yes your right there will be no g forces except for circle whips which won't be much.....

Maybe i just need extra cooling for the job ? i am thinking once the wheels are spinnning i won't need to be on full throttle and i should be able to drop the revs down to 5,500rpm or so....

yeah i did, i am thinking i just need a bigger sump, and a little more oil with some cooling.

I will be down for there about 5 days so sure why not its going to be a big one this year because we will be there for NYE, whats to do in ACT on NYE ?

The oil restrictors should help a bit with the oil control, perhaps over fill it a bit and test out how the oil pressures go.

RE, NYE. not a massive number of options, if you want to stick with the "summernats" theme you could get drunk in civic and then watch the fireworks. (assuming you are staying north side) or you could visit fyshwick or mitchell for some "adult entertainment".

A lot of places actually close down during summernats as its quite a hassle dealing with all the drunks.
