As reported on gtrblog.com - Japan is set to get a revision in 2009.

The next model year of the Nissan GT-R is around the corner and with it several interesting updates are being made. First in Japan but surely they will filter out to the regional GT-Rs as soon as current stock is depleted.

What were calling the Series II Nissan GT-R R35 will have the following changes in it’s debut MY09:

Engine output up 5ps to 485ps

White body colour changed from paint code QX1 to QAB (Storm White)

Brembo brake calipers rebadged to Nissan

Front License plate base removed (JDM falls into line with the USDM here)

Gas tank size expanded, 71 litres - 73.8 litres

Slightly tweaked fuel economy 8.2 km/L to 8.5 km/L

I also read there is revisions to the gearbox - not sure if thats in software or hardware however. (Mind you that was "internet talk" so who knows)

But an intersting side point is that my white R35 GTR which is on order was already listed as being paint code QAB which makes me wonder if we will get this upgrade straight up. Europe is getting it and their deliveries start around the same time as ours so everything points to this being the case.

Really it's nothing massive on paper - but I'm hoping some of the "bugs" are gone that they obviously don't want to publically list.

It’s definitely not surprising that the cars are coming to Australia without the LC function. With all the ambiguity with the warranty over using this option and the possibility of abuse with it, Nissan Australia would have had a nightmare as consumer protection laws here are very strong. So weather it was Nissan Australia or the parent company in Japan who have pushed/decided on these changes to the car it certainly avoids a potential hand grenade. I’d say it’s a dead set certainty that these changes will be made to car world wide. Anyway no Launch Control. Peace of mind for the owner and the manufacturer I guess. Still a bloody great car for the money!!

Peace of mind for manufacturers my undies they put themselves in that position not the customer.

If Australia wont get launch control then that means there are problems with the box and Nissan is pretty much admitting it then, It ll be a good case for anyone who has a 35 with L/C and the box blows for them to take nissan to court over it, if they don't repair it under warranty.

More changes leaked out today, official announcement 8th of December:

Nissan GT-R MY09 Series II GT-R - UPDATE 2

GTRBlog.com

Following on from our exclusive news from last week regarding the Nissan GT-R updates for MY09, we’ve received some further information and some exact pricing come next year.

The official announcement will be made by Nissan in early December (8th) but we have received the details early for those interested.

Pricing for the Nissan GT-R in Japan is on the rise as expected and while we gave the figure of 5% last week the actual increase is closer to 10%.

* Base Model - Up 840,000 yen to 8,610,000 yen

* Black Edition - Up 892,500 yen to 8,820,000 yen

* Premium Edition - Up 892,500 yen to 9,240,000

Other changes not in the original post are:

* Brake Hose stiffness increased

* Official name for the new white is Brilliant White Pearl and is a shared colour with the new Nissan 370z.

* Brilliant White Pearl officially replaces the Ivory Pearl white

* Ultimate Silver paint up 52,500 yen to 367,500 yen

* Wheel colour change - Not exactly sure on the details of this

* Black Edition will now be fitted with the Dunlop tires with a change to the Bridgestone as an option

A few more changes are rumoured but not confirmed yet:

* European specification suspension will be fitted to the Japanese model

* iPod adaptor and MFD functions will come from the US version to the Japanese version

* Circuit mode enabled for more locations

We will keep you up to date as more information comes in.

lol the price rises are probably to cover all the warranty costs from the first batch.

Seriously, how much money does someone at Nissan get paid to say "I don't think the white paint on the R35 is quite right, let's use this white instead"...

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
