I don't think I've taken it out of context, simply because it (as a saying) has become part of western life. I'm sure some of the dickheads out there who are beating their chests about this have done stupid things aswell. Cause lets face it, nobody is a saint, nobody leads a flawless life, and therefore people should look in the mirror. I love it how hypocritical this society is. Say one thing, do the other...

Are we all going to heap shit on someone for a stupid stupid mistake? I'm not. If you guys want to hate on, thats your prerogative, I for one would prefer to forgive and live without the bad karma.

mate I reckon you've missed my point, I'm not saying that we should be beating our chest over this, on the contrary, I said we could all learn from other people's mistakes.

However, it's amazing how many out there that don't believe in the bible are quick to quote it whenever it suits their application........and in this instance, try telling the mother of the dead kid that she has to bury next week that, "it's OK, they all do it and we all did it when we were young, so let's just let sleeping dogs lie".

Me thinks she'll be wanting blood!!

Are you trying to tell me what I do and don't believe Pete? Firstly, you said I was taking it out of context, which is blatantly incorrect (if you read John 8:2-11 you'll see that she was being accused of adultery, by people who saw it as a sin, and yet ignored their own, so the quote was correct in its context. Yes, I have studied theology. Yes I do quote passages, only because people so conveniently like to ignore what is written in black and white)

Next you'll be saying that I dont know enough history or politics, or simply question my intellect as has been the past whenever you've disagreed with me.

I wouldn't say that this shit (the car crash/hooning) is OK. Nobody with a soul would do that. Everyone here has been forthright with their sympathies, and rightly so.

I take issue with generalizations such as 'wrx drivers need to learn their lesson' which is a brain dead response. I'm referring to the fact that everyone kicks up a stink whenever "skylines" are villified in the press or by the public, and then turn around and say 'ok, these people are driving (x) car, so they MUST be hoons..'. I seem to recall you posting a couple months ago about going for a run with some exotics and 'not being able to keep up'. Then I see others saying they did 50 kilometers in 15 minutes. So, its OK if we do it in skylines, but not wrx's? Obviously you're a lot older, and therefore wiser, than a 16 year old P plater in a high performance car, but that is the very point - is it OK for some, and not other? Are we going to be hypocrites about this?

And +1 to tangles posts, I think he understands where people are coming from.

thanks dohmar, you make very good points yourself

everyones' opinion is worthwhile. as pete said from his dad - and in this case its so true - learn from others mistakes; cause by f**k its better (as horrible as that is) than you making that very mistake

still, ive rode for so many years at such high speeds, thru the hills not metro, never, and Ive done wrong but thankfully Ive never endangered anyone else (IMO only) during this time

got nothing against having a go with your vehcile - BUT there is a time/place for everything, and every choice has its consequence. just take some risks away from what you're doing.....

+1 again

I didnt sleep last night cos of a final Uni assignment

My 17 year old brother walks in at like 6 am, im like 'Where the f**k have you been?' He replies

"My mate Dimitri was just killed in a car accident'

My bro and his mates were kickin back at Macas last night and this 19 year old was hooning around in his Wrx, apparently he removed some valve which instantly doubles the boost in Wrx's (I dont know for sure, was just told) and he's only had the car for 2 weeks

But yeh, he hit the pole doing about 120 or 130, and Dimitri, 18, the guy who passed, his parents were on holiday at Kangaroo Island at the time

I just kinda stepped back a bit and thought for a while, wow this is f**ked

That really sucks, make sure u look out for ur bro... we've had a few deaths recently and just being around is one of the best things u can do right now

Yeah the boost restrictor valve inside a boost hose, same thing works with nissans.

120 in a 60 zone which resulted in a death is instant jail time. So the dumb kid who drove the car is going to pay two times over.

There are no winners in a set of tragic events like this

Could you imagine being the parents in all of this? a month before Christmas. They would of had a present for him under the tree and everything, now after returning from a holiday they get home to this.

I hope the Government just doesn't bring in P-plater ristrictions because of this. Because even if a 18 can't get behind the wheel of a turbo'd car. Doesn't mean he's not gonna flog the shit outta his VN commodore and do the same thing.

I just think it's really sad that the driver thought he would be a sikunt and do over 130kp/h through that bend that's just after/before Fulham maccers.

I think everyone, even fully licensed drivers should have to do defensive and advanced driving schools when they get/renew their license.

And for f**ks sake, people arguing about the meaning of a scripture in the bible and what it means. I've always been taught, the meaning of the bible, is what it means to YOU

lol Ben, you like to go off on a tangent. No, I'm not telling you what to believe. No, I don't think we should be hypocritical but having said that, do we just ignore the justice system because we have all fallen short. I didn't single out the WRX driver (refer post #16), in fact, I gave 2 sides of the story.

And as far as theological discussions are concerned, I'd love to have a chat with you someday, I've read the entire New Testament and parts of the Old but I think we would get way off track on this thread if we ventured down that track..........don't take stuff so personally Ben.

Thats a nice fanciful story there steve but it hardly justifies the comment about wrx owners learning their lesson...yes, shit happens but an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. The driver is going to have to live with the fact he killed somebody. Isn't there a christian saying about 'turning the other cheek'?....

-D

EDIT: Actually the saying I was thinking of was 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone'

i by no means meant they as the wrx owners i meant young teens

i am the last person to throw stones knowing some of the silly things iv.e done in my life some before living the christian life and some after i dont always get things right either but its a continual process of trying to get it right

and with my first comment it could of easily been its a sad day for skyline drivers

also keep in mind i was first on scene at a skyline accident with a fatality i certainly know compassion and how to respond to peoples needs in a crisis situation

the media will play it up because anything that is over 3.0L or has a turbo is a "high performance vehicle". The point is, dont be a dick on the road, theres a time and a place.

and Steve, i dont think the responses were directed at the sad day part, i think it was the latter that was more shocking. Numerous statements in this thread have included "learn from others mistakes", and sadly this is what we need to take out of this story.

Unfortunately, he'll prob get off scot free. Buy another car and do it again. I've seen it time and time again ... and one of those bastards killed a very close friend of mine. Similar circumstances; showing off and exceeding the speed limit twice over. My friend never had a chance

I've also watched a mate run down by a hoon and killed. These are images I'll never forget ... and I've seen these bastards in Court and they just don't care. :D So as mentioned above, just imagine someone close to you being killed before your eyes ... then you try to find forgiveness. I feel sincerely sorry for the dead teen's family ... no parent should be burying their kids.

Hoons who cause death should all be thrown in jail, or crush their car with them in it. I'm strongly biased on this one, so thats all I'll say on the subject.

One of my mates is friends with all the boys involved, besides the driver.

One has a broken hand and collar bone. The other alot more serious. Head trauma, broken leg in two places, broken arm in 3 places and a punctured lung. The driver, didn't even sustain a scratch.

They were heading down Tapleys Hill Rd from Henley Beach Rd and crashed on the bend just before Fulham maccers. Looked like it was always destined to crash, I doubt an F1 car would make it around that at 140kp/h.

In all honesty, a very sad day I think. Just shows how easy these things can happen. You can be the best driver or the worst driver in the world. But we all make mistakes. Everyone should play it safe on the roads, I know I will

apperently big brake lock up car slid into the kerb spun it around and got airborn into the pole backwards thats why the people in the back copped it . bloody sad all round i really dont think the make of car matters there is dickheads driving every make .

saw some clown wed night in a r32 gtr going down main north raod thru munno para weaving in and out of the traffic over 3 lanes cutting cars off . i got the first 3 numbers of his plate if i get the other 3 a ph call will be made dicks like that give us all a bad name

ooohhh noooo,

dimi

he works, (used to) at magil foodland, which is one of my stores...

that kid was a champ, polite, always there for a laugh.

my GF works with his uncle also, condolences

RIP bro.

all p platers and people in general under 20 all cry and sook when the goverment give them restrictions on what they can drive.

15 yrs ago we all learnt to drive in 75 hp datsun 180b's, and corolla's.

it took 2 minutes to get to 100 kph and the death toll of youths was never heard off.

people these days that are 30+ have far greater respect for motor vehicles then a young punk thrashing a car his dad bought for him.

my thoughts only, but we should have 100hp cap on all people less then 20.

learn to drive before you race,

and be mature enough to recognise the consiquences.

i agree darren 100%!!!!

my kids wont be having anything special until i feel they are ready,

ATLEAST a few years after they start driving.

and i believe we should have the same laws as vic IE, p platers cannot drive forced induction vehicles.

Yeah I agree. I'd go one further and restrict them to 4 cylinders with a capacity of 2lt or less. V8's and straight 6's are still plenty powerful enough to get u into trouble, sadly as noted, many dont get the learning curve some of us had. I started on a sigma, and it was plenty good...
