I am haveing trouble with extra screens in the way of interferance,(only when the car is running) The screens are ok when the motor is not running, when the motor is running the screens have a wave flicker over them. The picture is ok just the wave which is bugging me heaps. I do have a Nesa multi video amplifier which has helped with some of this problem but not all . I have the alpine 202e dvd player up front with 3 Voxson screens running off it. I have used in line noise filters on the + rail with little success. If anyone can help me with this problem it would help me out lots.

I hate when screens start to flicker.

Couple thing to check which might help.

Check your power, make sure you are not getting voltage drops, make sure you have a really good earth too.

Get some good video leads that have some good shielding, might also help

Where have you put the inline filters? how many have you put in? try hook them up as close as you can to the screens. Let me know if any of this helps and good luck.....

This is the visual version of stereo whining from alternator noise.

Check your grounding, might be worth running a joining ground wire from headunit, amps, screens, etc so that you have a common ground for all your ICE (In Car Entertainment), also check the grounding line on the battery, make sure it's more than sufficient to ground your upgraded devices (R32 GTRR grounding from the battery to the chassis/body was less than 4 gauge and when amps where introduced to most audio applications, the grounding was inadequite for the extra current.

Also (and this is my own personal thing), I tend to stay away from filters and the like until I have checked all the cabling and wiring, made sure I have done everything as recommended first, once I have met all the recommendations for a perfect install, I then start looking at filters and the like:

Recommended procedure:

*Always use a clean grounding/earthing point for all devices

*Always run your power down 1 side of the vehicle, and signal cables on the other side, if you have to cross over, do it at a 90 degree angle ( like + ) so that there is minimal area for signal transfer and interference to occur

*Check where vehicle power runs through the car, run your power the same side, the signal wire the other side (vehicle wiper power, lights, etc can interfere as well).

*Keep earth leads as short as possible, the shorter they are, the less resistance the cable has.

*Keep your earth leads at least as big as the 12v+ feed, current actually flows from negative cable to the positive cable, so negative is feeding power.

*Make sure battery earthing point is adequite for the entire car, sometimes it's worth upgrading the grounding.

There are some of the recommendations, I am sure there are many more that can be added to the list.

Grounding is ok, I have used a gounding kit from aerpro (it has got an extra 6 points in the engine bay) Power cable from the battery (+) is running down the drivers side (2 Guage for both + - cables) and rca cables to the amps go thru the centre of the car and the video signal wire runs down the passengers side, I am using double sheilded cable for the rca's. All the grounding points have been cleaned of all contaminates (paint, dirt). The filters are a close to the screens as possible.

Have you linked all the grounding points (ground from head unit, amps, screens) to equalise the voltages between everything?

I had a similar issue, and until I ran an 18 guage link to all the units, the sound just never vanished.

Reason was because the car had previously been in an accident, I was grounding on the body, which had been very poorly welded back on the chassis and connection was very poor, so grounding on the body was also effected, but linking the systems resolved the issue.

    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
    • Yes, a plan for non-action is always my first sort of plan! I'm happy to see what falls out of invision's update. I had been having some thoughts on what to do with this the other day and they all seem to have fled my memory, after various solar panel induced traumas, squeaking suspension sphericals, etc etc, over the last little bit. I'll try and recall what I had in mind and make sure that I put it into print in some form before the Alzheimer's strikes again.
    • The ability to have both a 5500 stall for launching, and a regular lockup for every other scenario is pretty sweet. Does it actually work well like that though in the real world? Would it hold up to track use and otherwise you'd never know you had a stall converter in it? If so, that's awesome
