Flucuating Idle

Hey all i got bored today and PURELY out of boredom i decided to block of my BOV whilst doing this i went for a drive and heard it and then i got home, put it into neutral and released my foot off the brake and the revs where fluctuating from 600-900RPM, just wanting to know why?

because the ecu in the car expects the air to be plumbed back into the system, but now that air has dissapeared and the car is freaking out

You put an atmo bov in the car, car stalls. Nothing to worry about, just remove the block plate and leave it as is. Problem solved.

Ok i removed the block plate and the problem is still there come to think of it, it was there before i blocked it...

Is it becuase i just installed a pod filter or?

Because the cars revs are going up and down a couple of hundred RPM and when the car is idling it sounds a bit rough!

I just put a 3A pod in 2 days ago could the be the cause

you checked the O2 sensor? its probably fouled or broken. i got same year model as your car mine has just broken and chances are its been stuffed for quite some time. more than likely this will fix the problem. also give you better fuel consumption too

Nah the o2 sensor would cause your fuel economy to be shocking, idle variance CAN happen but it's rare.

If the problem wasn't present before you put the pod on then its the pod filter.

The reason the idle will fluctuate could be that a) the pod isn't on properly b) you didn't put the afm plug back in tightly c) the afm could have picked some crud up and you may need to clean it. Take the pod off and get some brake cleaner into the afm to clean it. Make sure you clamp up the afm tightly and secure the pod so it doesn't move. Hopefully it's all good.

AAC Valve? When I first got my car the idle was hunting around a bit and sometimes stalled when pulling up to lights etc. Searched around here and someone suggested cleaning the AAC valve, after I cleaned it problem gone. I think theres a guide in the DIY section if you're not sure how to do it but could be worth a try.
