Does anyone know of any distinct markings or stampings that set apart the C210 manual gearbox? A while back i changed my coupe over to manual, taking all parts from a donor car including gearbox.

Thing is, the stick feels further forward than my old car and I'm sure it's not as smooth. This feels very clicky, if you know what I mean. It's a 5 speed but I did have to drill out the housing holes ( the ones that marry up to the clutch housing studs) a bit to fit the L28. I remember changing out a gearbox in my old car, same L28 and the box was out of a spare c210 i had and it went in with ease. Any ideas?

The actual gear lever sticks from L-series boxes come in a range of shapes. Check that your stick isnt a little straighter than your previous one. I asked Alfadog about this years ago, and from memory the part number for the C210 and 240k boxes was identical, but the Z Boxes were a little different (bronze syncros or something like that).
