The watch made the connection from the positive terminal of the uncovered fuse box to the throttle body. But it gets better - To get the spanner I was using onto the oil-filter fitting I was doing back up, I'd had to wiggle my arm down in the gap and jam it there. When the watch made the connection, it wasn't just a simple case of pulling my hand away. It was stuck for what seemed like ages.

Lesson well learned. No jewelery when working on the car and ALWAYS use the battery master shut-off.

More than a month later, it's still not great.

Kel! what are you doing to yourself! don't use your knee as a brake...

You should see how the car bit ended up :P

As I've said before, I should stick to somewhere safe, like the nav seat.

My worst injury from my down-the-bank adventure at Wrestpoint Targa was the bramble scratches I got climbing 12 foot back up the bank to the road!

I think you should harden up girl.

Oh a little bruised knee hardly rates on the raceworx scale of injuries.

Neil.

picsorban Neily is the only way to claim top raceworx injury status

Hmm, Can't top the watch one, but if there's a wooden spoon for biggest pratt: here's my pitch.

I normally only wear ear protection when I'm doing something loud.

I was using my plasma cutter, and it wasn't that loud so I just wore an oxy mask. Of course, plasma cutters blow away the molten steel. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a bright red ball of steel go up from the cutter, bounce off something, and feel it go into my left ear. @#$@#$ me it hurt. Makes note to self: wear ear protection when plasma cutting.

Two days later, using the Mig welder. Wearing the full auto lcd facemask, but no ear protection, as I thought the facemask was enough protection. I'm welding, hear this pop, see a bright red ball of steel go up, bounce off something, and feel it go into my left ear. @#$@%# me, that hurt too. Turns out my big fat head and my wing nut-air brake ears are quite effective at collecting flying debris.

Went to the doctor. He said I had 2 balls of steel in my ear canal, about 1mm from my ear drum. Tried to wash it out with a syringe but failed, so had to go to a ear-nose-throat specialist. Turn up to the specialist, and he's got a dentist's chair, and a german bedside manner kinda like the dentist in the marathon man movie..

Puts me in this dentist chair, and uses tools I can't begin to describe to dig these bits of metal out of my head. It hurt more than anything I have ever felt in my life, including the time I used a pipe wrench to shatter my thumb into 5 pieces (a whole other sorry story :D)..

300$ and a whole lotta pain later, I now wear ear protection, even when making toast...

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
