Suspension Height Setting

Can someone tell me which is the correct way to set the ride height:

Adjusting the suspension (coilovers) so that the ride height from the center of wheel to fender are the same on the left and right side or  making sure that the suspension(coilovers) are the same height and the distance from the center of wheel to fender maybe different???

Actually, the suspension should be adjusted so that the weight distribution across an axle is 50:50.

But, in the absence of a set of corner-weight scales, adjust the wheel-to-guard distance to be the same across an axle.
