Right...new project. Im considering building an RB24DE for a mint KHGC110 ive aquired. Im keeping faithful with the vintage of the car in the respect of N/A multi throttle power but i feel a modern twin cam engine is the way to go instead of building a tripple carby L24 or L28 engine. What do i need? and what advice can be offered?

stuff the rb24. for na you cant be cubes. at least put an rb30 bottom end on. rb30de. then use an rb25 head or rb26 head if u got money. then if u have more money buy the stroker crank and make rb34de.

tight fit to physically fit the rb30 block in a KHGC110

rb24 is built with a rb26 crank in a rb20 block - there is about 35mm less deck height then the rb30 and this means the difference between the bonnet closing or not

yeah, NA RBs are really a motor for people who've got a bit of coin to spend. so much more power and cost efficient to just turbo, thus the NA side of things never really developed. hardly any R&D and what not.

RB24DE would be damn awesome though, or even an RB26DE!! i've heard an L28 with injectors directly spraying into the trumpets - gave me goosebumps!

Build an RB24DE, using an RB25DET block and RB20DET Crank, This will give you the extra cubes without the longer stroke = happier revs. Their is such thing as an RB24e, which is an RB25 block, rb20 crank, rb30e pistons and head, plus carbies, revs to 8k.... Not sure what rods were used... rb20det (?)

then you could put the max oversize pistons into the rb25block and nearly see 2.5L again :D, though smaller pistons can be lighter, which would be better for more revs. I think RB25 block, RB20 crank, RB26 Head (ITB + Solid lifters), lightweight rods and pistons, combined with the lightweight crank all balenced correctly should see some nic3e revs :).

I actually had been pondering building somthing like this down the track, out of spare parts i have, with RB30e Pistons and Head, rb25 block and rb20 crank, becuase i can, then feed it stock vlt gear and it would purr along nicely :).

im not sure on the clearance issues in the KHGC110 engine bay, but i think that even an rb25 block would be a tight fit

but for sure - a rb20 crank in a rb25 block would be better for revs then a rb26 crank in a rb20 block.....

and it's was actually called an RB24S (RB24E would indicate fuel injection) it was a carby motor, if anything it's more closely related to the nissan patrol RB30, the only main difference being the stroke (and block height). The RB24S came out in malaysian cefiros/laurels.

Nah its a RB20 with RB26 rods and crank (custom pistons).

L31 will be an easier build as its been done countless times before and stays true to the era. L31 with 40mm webbers will sound awesome.

Good to see another N/A build going on.

For me I've always wanted to build an N/A RB and now I have the challenge of building it to a capacity limit of 2000cc. I'm very keen to see how you get on with the extra cubes.

As far as the induction goes, fuel injection will make it more driveable than side draughts, but for outright power there is nothing wrong with three Webbers. Webbers are quite costly now and that is the main reason I went injected.

Whats the car going to be used for? Weekend driver or weekend racer?
