Went out this morning for a looksy and have now officially added Dutton to my 2 year plan!

The event looks awesome. Caught up with Jess (she saw my SAU jacket) and had a quick chat. Gotta say she seemed like she was really enjoying it. And why wouldn't you be.

Here's a couple of pics from 1 of events. Unfortunately started to rain so got out of there and didn't see the skidpan groups.

Some of Jess

Let me know if you want the rest of the sequence after those last 3 :-)

And the others

Any results? My powers of interweb search have failed me this arvo.

Hope you're doing well anyways Jess- if nothing else though sounds like you're having fun!

When I spoke to her this morning Kel, I believe she was 7th/8th in the rookie class. Which i think was pretty damn good.

There's some serious machines out there. A few of those pics are from her class including the open Lotus thing and the Challenge Stradalle Ferrari.

Bloody awesome! Hope it ended well too

Good pics Bobby!!

Thanks Chubbs.

You gotta get out and see a Dutton. Just a few hours there and it seems like the ultimate track day(s)

I'm trying to convince the in laws and my mate who owns the trailer business for sponsorship for next year or the following and if it works out I'll definitely be doing one soon!!

What a freaking awesome weekend!!!

I had a wild time and met some brillant people!! The guys in my group were the best and we had a ball!

I was up against some tough competition, there were a lot of serious cars there and for my first time and everything in the event being un expected I reckon I did ok :D I came 10th in rookie class over all. I just wanted to have some fun on the last day and had some nice EPIC FAILS. The North circuit event I hit a cone on the first corner and proceed to take it with me up and over the bridge and was making an awful sound under my car and didn’t want it to melt to it so I pulled over and got out to get the cone from under my car..The official thought I was crazy and was just staring at me. The maps of the events in the book are not to scale and I had no idea what was going to be around that first corner and was coming in way to hot :P

On my last lap of GP I was coming over the bridge and was in third flat and coming down into the S’s I was way to hot and didn’t brake enough and was fishtailing but managed to save it and continue but got the heart racing and looked good for the spectators LOL

I had an awesome time on the skidpan at Oran Park and for the last event of the day I pulled the fuse out and ran in RWD...Was great burnout start and drift session was great fun!!

I will hope to be doing a Victorian round in the near future, but need to get some serious driver training in before then.. I found it a bit hard to do the circuit events on cold tyres and 2 lap dash and try and get your best time.. So now that I know what Dutton Rally is like I will be better prepared. I think I will try a co-driver with me next time as well.

I ran Falken 615 tyres and they held up the whole weekend and I liked them on the track was a good all round tyre for me. My car held up the entire weekend, didn’t miss a beat and loved every minute of it.

The best part of the Rally for me was doing the 800m Sprint at Goulburn Airport..Was windy and cold and the stripe was rough but I got the GTR off the clock and got to watch Shaun in his Ferrari launch it off the line in front of me on his run..You don’t get to see that every day!! :D

I post up some incar video tonite. Here are my results from the weekend and the fasted times for class and in the events.

I think it should be cheaper, I mean the Classic Adelaide and Sunshine Rally are half the price of Dutton Rally..but I think they are the full on rallys with a navigator beside you..where dutton is more a glorified motorkhana and supersprint/lapdash...kind of event.. there was 36 events all up over the 3 days. most you got to do twice plus they want to get more people involved in Dutton but I think alot of people find it out of reach to enter cause of the price :D

It is all go,go,go traveling from events and getting lost and getting up eraly for breakfast and driver breifing and you didnt get much merchandise this year as I have heard in the past you got more stuff..but all in all for my first time I f**king love it...

I am off the pace tho as the serious cars Evo's,Lotus,Porches where doing 48's around OPSouth and 1.06's around wakefield the EVO's and lotus where the favorite cars at the event..I am no where near those times in my car and wont be unless I put a rollcage in and some money into the engine bay.. I was in Class C slightly modified and didnt do to badly was a midfielder on all 3 days.

Most where piss poor on that effort all going to bed early to get up at 6am :( Alot of the guys take Dutton very serious

I wanted to go hard sunday night but it turned out to be an early night with presentation and everyone gone by 7pm :ermm:

Congrats Jess- a brilliant result!

Thanks Kel :D I did ok..lots to improve on but couldnt of ask for a better motorsport weekend ;)

Here is some Video of the skidpan day I went to before the event http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=95E134893017261D

    • Starting with issues 1 - 5, we have already run into a problem...!  Issue #4 contained 2x front brake calipers, instead of 1 caliper and 1x steering knuckle. Will have to call DeAgostini on Monday to sort it out. Anyway here's some photos.  Issue #1 is the front bumper, headlights and number plate. Issue #2 is the front wheel (with "We produced with spartan air." text on the centre cap!) and tyre, the front lip spoiler and cylinder head cover with ignition coils under the centre cover... which will never be seen again. Issue #3 is the bonnet and cylinder head. Issue #4 is the front strut, brake disc (with laser etched metal discs) and brake caliper. I stopped here because of the issue with the missing steering knuckle.  Next update will be #5 - #10 in a few weeks.
    • DeAgostini is one of a few companies that release quite large (the largest commonly available size actually) 1/8 scale models in a series of weekly issues over 100 - 110 instalments.  They release different models for different markets and DeAgostini Japan have release the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo last month. I've made two of these 1/8 scale sized cars (one an R35 GT-R from 2012 - 2014, the other I'm just about halfway through, a BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the 2Fast 2Furious movie) so when this R32 was announced there was no way I could ignore it as it's my favourite out of all Nissans.  Each issue costs around $20 so it costs about $2.2K when completed. I suppose it is very expensive for what it is, but the quality and details are really very good, and there are many "gimmicks" like fully functioning exterior and interior lights operated with a remote control, working steering, all doors/bonnet/boot/fuel lid open and close, the side mirrors fold in and it even has a speaker for the engine revving sounds when you turn the lights on.  Each issue comes with a magazine that tells the story of the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo from the first design stages of the BNR32 to Group A homologation and the various racing version that were run in the Japanese Group A and JGTC, and Australian Group A.  So I plan to update the build in this thread 5 issues at a time.  https://deagostini.jp/r32/?srsltid=AfmBOooKjxDc4EUK2rmXqMBPgyHfFJ24s4oEPJBNpnF-lFlsRoW0PE6P
    • As per title.. has anyone used so far? Keen to hear results, comparisons. In the market for a new mani for my new turbo. Any issues cracking?
    • Re read everything that has been written about this in this thread.. Let us know if you're still confused.
    • This would be a new pump with new gears. I'm just unclear on whether it's a good idea to run more oil pump flow if you don't actually need said flow. Oil level is set a minute or so after shutting off a warm engine so wouldn't the high RPM oil level in the sump end up lower all things equal? Plan is OEM clearances, main concern in my mind is whether the OEM pump can keep up with the flow requirements of any additional oil coolers.
