Hry guys,

just a quick question,

does anyone know of a good cheap aluminium welder in the Hills area?

spoke to a few places and they wanted 40-50 bucks a weld :s

back on the gold coast I had my entire intercooler piping welded for 20 bucks.

all I need is a BOV adaper welded on.

any reccomendations would be greats

Thanks

Andrew

did you know the welder that did it for $20 ? i cant think of any way that any business could do that and make any money.

you needing a drive in, they weld it then drive out service? or can you remove the piece and hand it over?

either way i could help you out at some point but im a bit of a drive from the hills. (40mins away)

hey guys,

I didnt know the welder, i just rocked up and said can you weld these, I did do all the prep work and lined them all up, so all he had to do was the welding,

I probly will just take it down to an exhaust shop, I only need one weld done now so 40 bucks isnt to bad

    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
    • I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while.
    • yeah the south island is stunning, the wifes family is from the west coast down there so we were down there for christmas.   a high 10 would be a stretch but hilarious if it happened. fourth gear is its party gear, i don't have traction to throw more at it at lower speeds. I've found passengers don't think its that fast, i think it's because it has a digital dash so they can't see the needle move so they have no sense of speed
    • You have (externally anyway) a lot of patience!  At the very least your patience has rewarded you financially even if you decided you were over it!! I only just read your first experience of seeing the car, that would have been amazing!  Well documented too! It must be exciting knowing there's only 10 months left until you can get it on a boat and on it's way!!!???
