Rb20 Marks On Camshafts

Hey guys!

I have two rb20 heads at home.

The other day I began putting one head together by using the best pasts of both heads.

Now, as far as I know both pairs of cams are stock. ~8mm lift.

I noticed on one set of cams there were the markings "S4" (inlet) and "S7" (exhaust)

Now on the cams off the other head on the inlet cam there is a marking "S3" and the exhaust has the amrking "S2"

The markings are on the end of the camshaft closest to the firewall.

Does anyone know what these markings mean?

Im a little confused why both early model RB20DET's would have completely different markings on stock cams.

Any info is much appreciated!

i know this doesnt help but i have a pair of rb20 cams sitting here and they're marked S7 and S8. could just be a production tag of somesort.

HAHAHA!.. where did "S8" come from?

And why is my other shaft marked with an "S4"?

Anyone have any ideas on what these may mean?
