Marcus, didn't the car come in as a Private Import?

Yeah it has..

My understanding was that once its signed off by the engineer for compliance it would be sweet but seems like I need the roadworthy certificate for rego here in Qld.

You only need a basic roadworthy, the car does not have to comply with ADR's

I have the documentation floating around if you need it.

Should be easy enough to get a roadworthy. All they should be checking is all lights work, no leaks, brakes work etc. If they're worried about mods for a roadworthy just find somewhere else lol. I got a RWC for my R31 a couple of weeks ago with S13 suspension in it lol.

FREAKIN AWESOME BUILD! Really appreciate you sharing your photos with us, but i just have one request, are you able to organise them into an order which is closer to the actual build process? Sorry, i dont mean to complain but it seems as if the photos are all over the place. Maybe its just me!

in reference to the quote below, (my quote button doesnt seem to be working)

"The plenumn...they kept stressing about the alloy being to thin and would bulge or deform but once it was on that was thrown out the door. They are quite thinner than Jun plenumn. Also the standard stud mounts were too long and they thought should have been addressed with the plenumn build."

They are absolutely right. I have seen the one on Godzillas drag car and it has bulged/ballooned way out of shape. This may well be because of the amount of boost that is run. not to say that the hypertune is a bad product but i guess thats probably why jun/endless etc charge what they charge.

Keep the pics coming!

and you think 2200 for a hypertune is not much money or sumthing.... :ermm:

Hey Mate I bought it when the Aussie dollar crashed against the Yen so seeing I was earning Yen , it was a bargain !!

awesome car

i have a few greedy plenums that i must say are very average... but only a grand and they do fit

mind you that BOV return is a tad house "o"

Cheers mate..

Yeah the Bov was a bit of an issue as they wanted to run the Bov to atmosphere and thats all sweet in Japan as honestly with the Keystone cops over there you never get pulled up!

Jeez when it was not that many years back that drink driving was legal !!

But since the car was destined to go to Australia the consensus was to plumb it back using some of the standard piping and get custom work if I wanted done in Oz, or revert back to standard bov's easily if need be.

Interesting though as alot of the Japanese tuning shops dont recommend using the standard bov's where as in Oz many guys are running good power with the standard Bov's..

Their theroy on it is that the standards are usually old and have seen a reasonable amount of work already and when your in the high power zone or high boost they have a tendency for leaking, even it just ever so slightly.

Bar all that I still havent got the bloody thing on the road, a few issues to sort out and hopefully dont have to take it to the RTA for inspection but knowing my luck I will and get fully bent over..

Going back to Japan soon to do some work on my house there and pack up a bunch more parts that are for the car.

Things being sent are ...

Carbon fibre tailshaft

Full genuine new nismo 400R body kit.. (took me forever to hunt down front lip)

Rays Volk Racing TE37 SL's ( http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/2009/products/...de=VOLK_TE37SL)

Auto Gallery Yokohama SS690 gearbox good for around 580kw (

OS Giken 5 speed Close Ratio Gear Set with strengthened Input Shaft

Carbon dash surround ( had this bugger sitting around bloody ages and just had it polished )

sorta looks like this bit better quality..

SuperiorCarbonGTR33Dash.jpg

Rays Volk Racing TE37 SL is an AWESOME rim - u getting it in black?

Yep Black !!

Be interesting to see if they are as light as the TC2's I have.

just read this whole thread,

very interesting ;)

Can i ask why you chose HKS to do the Build?

you guys seem to have very strict rules on brining in anything thats not stock.

Well I'd been living in Japan for almost 10 years and been going there and doing business there for almost another 10 and the misso wanted to come to Oz to study for a bit and I was due for a labotomy if I stayed much more, so headed to Oz for a bit. Basically back there every 2 months now. The car was my daily in Japan so came back as Private Import.

I'd built other cars with different tuning shops but after I this 33, I got few mods done with the guys at HKS and ended being good friends with them and after a bunch of parts came my way cheaply I decided to let em go for it.

There work was meticulous and they ended up doing alot of work for free plus some freebie parts along the way.

Very happy how the car finished up but still a long way off completed.

All I have to do now is get the bloody thing registered and drive it. Its complied but still havent got rego sorted, plus been back in Japan for a bit over a month working on my house there plus business, so really havent had time.

Just had another head extremely ported and polished to build up as a spare head and sent a few more goodies back for the car.

The biggest hassle here in Oz is finding someone who actually really knows how to tune the Fcon V pro otherwise I'll be waiting for friend to come out from Japan and tune it as I'd like to run it on E85.

Cant see him being able to do any road tunes but.

Only other options are to change to another engine management which I'm still looking into.

Yeah mate I've been told but in all honesty, nobody here really knows how to fully tune like the Japanese tuners do using the F-con.

HEHE

Guess, when you get it tuned from HKS them selfs, it a bit hard to find a replacement

if you do find a place in and around brisbane or getting someone down to tune in December and Jan, let us know... there fare few F-COn people in here, that might want to get there's tuned as well

Just after peoples opinion..

I got some Ganador Carbon mirrors and had a Carbon grill made up through a friend in Japan so chucked them on today to see how it looked and cant make up my mind if I like it or not so would like peoples opinion, good or bad.

Other option I'm thinking is just keep everything white and go a set of standard ganadors painted white..

I also have a Nismo 400R front bar and lip coming but not sure if I'll use them or not as like it to look standard so as to keep the demons off my back once the cars on the road.

Excuse marks on front lip, was due to scraping from tow truck that delivered the car after compliance...

Also carbon grill is not perfectly flush as just a tral fit so just sitting in position.

Heres some quick pics ..

    • Hi All Does anyone know what size bolts are used to mount the bonnet hinge to the bonnet on an R32 GTR please? I'd usually just buy them OEM but they are nearly £20 each and I need all 4
    • interestingly enough, i found out the answer is yes. doing a flush did fix my recurring A/T light. it might have been because of the trans filter: but that doesn't really make sense to me. the fluid/filter was super dirty. would that increase the pressure in the lines and trigger an A/T light? does the car even have a way of detecting that? i have no idea. i've done 200+ miles after the flush and no A/T light. if my A/B solenoids went bad, i would think the light would've come on. shifts and drives way better now though...at 2k rpm instead of 2500...no hesitation and downshifts when i want it to.
    • I vote go red. Only because I hate keeping gloss black clean. Was no worries helping out either! Glad you've survived the rain outs of QLD
    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
