Hit a gutter last week, took the car to a tire place to get an alignment coz it was badly out. Guys told me I had damaged the "knuckle". Damage is on the right hand side, car is a 32 GTR.

Can I get a knuckle from the left side or does it have to be from the right?

How hard is it to remove/replace a knuckle?

Is it safe to drive the car around on short trips?

Just looking for some basic info

TIA

1. no

2. some effort but very diy-able as wit most things

need 2 remove 36 size hub bolt then remove handbrake springs at the hub,den bench vise the hub and undo the 5-6 bolts

3. depends how bad the damage is, i guess you can limp a 2 b to get parts but no high speeds/fwys/hwys, best not 2 drive it if its that bad

guessing these are the rear knuckles, as theres sum1 on ns.com is selling a pair

(assuming we're talking rears here)

I broke a couple of quality 1/2 in drive breaker bars trying to get that 36mm nut off. Workshop with 3/4 drive rattle gun was required... so not completely DIYish for me. I have two second hand knuckles now, but i might need both. PM if you get stuck, maybe i wont need the second. DECIM8 bought a new one from Nissan (needed to come from Japan). PM him if u want a new one.

Here's my thread clicky

Thanks Guys,

Not too good with the DIY stuff, so might leave it to a mech.

Its the front right hand side one, rears are ok as far as I know.

Can I used one from the rear for the front?

Bad luck on the damage, I was hoping that you only put out your alignment :(

You probably can limp it around safely for a little while, but it is going to be wearing your tyres out because it is out of alignment so it will definitely be better getting it fixed sooner rather than later.

When I hit a gutter in my car I bent some parts, not too sure if a "knuckle" was one of them. The only thing I can think of is you might have bent the tie rod end (like I did) or possibly the inner tie rod. These are the only things I know of that could be described as "knuckles." Look how far my 4 years of being an electrical apprentice got me towards becoming a mechanic :D

This is what I'm talking about.

The knuckle I imagine are the parts at the bottom of my photo. If this is the case what I did is bought a brand newy from Nissan Parramatta (bit of a trek for me but club discount ftw  ) for around $70, same day pick up. Might be a different story for a R32 GT-R, worst case scenario you find a wrecker that has what you want.

Fitting it was fairly easy, I think there where a few circlips to be careful of but other than that it was a breeze.

If this is the part you need and you can get it I'll give you a hand putting it in if you want. I'm sure you can find out my number some how :)

Or I could just PM it to you lol
