iv drivn a new SS ute.. they are boring and was slower than my old 250rwhp R32 however it felt like the SS was restricted by technology, just felt underpowered

You're going by feeling here...which is not the best judge of how quick a car is...the 32 might "feel" quicker as the rush of torque comes whereas a V8 might feel more linear...and hence feel not as quick...but it can be deceiving....

that is true, the SS felt exactly the same accross the board, I guess like up a hill it had more effortless power but it just didnt feel like it gained speed all that fast and wasnt a fun car, hey im a boost fan . but in comparison the XR6 turbo ute I drove felt like shit to drive, was heavy and handled pretty average against the SS, the power was less but felt like iy put you in your seat more than the SS.

I dont really go by quarter mile times, track times to be mean more as it shows how well the car is ballanced. I know of a AE82 Corolla with a 4agze in it which nails a few corvettes and is very competative with the new v8s but as well all know power to weight is the factor. weighs like 900kg an has 150hp to the floor

oh cmon HR31's are nice cars, I class HR's real skylines but not ADM ones.. just like 86 sprinter aint a real trueno/levin and comodores definatly arnt chevs.. i laugh so hard at chev badges on holdens

my cousin did up a VX SS commodore extractors, clutch and 100hp nitrous setup. ran a 13.3 on street tyres. not bad.

Yeah good point, those 2 door r31's are nice and you can really see the r32 bloodline in it.

Is it true that older R32s weight 60kg less than the newer ones?

Side impact protection bars weigh 60kg? Because thats the only difference, unless this is a trick from nissan how they say things are slower / heavier than what they really are?

5.7L LS1 weighs less than all RB motors.

if fitted to a skyline engine bay, less of the motor hangs past the front strut tower meaning even better balance than with the RB motor.

not sure on weight specs of LS2 6L.

Yep LS1 weighs 50kg less due to alloy block.

GTST: pretty sure the LS2 weighs nearly exactly the same as the LS1, maybe by a fraction more.

seriously.. the whole alloy block v iron block is useless in this topic.

LS1 engines seem to weork really well with the TT kits.

making over 450rwkw with waves of torque that you could NEVER see from an RB of any kind.

I was saying that if the LS1 was fitted to an R32.

even in NA form with the usual NA upgrades of cams, extractors tuning etc, these motors spin up over 300rwkw.

1290kg 89 model R32 with RB20 making what 200rwkw with usual mods?

or

1240kg 89 model R32 with LS1 making over 300rwkw.

so more power, more torque, less weight and better distributed weight.

and you would prefer to keep the RB20 because it has an iron block?

depends how you get off the line, my mates line has 220rwkw and a r8 couldn't reel us in.. things get off the line damn quick though, it'd chew the gtst off the line, wouldnt be able to catch one b4 speed limiter.. in the gtr i don't catch 5 litres before around 100 and 6's can usually get up to 80 before i hit 80 if i take off with only like 2k revs up.. need to dump it to get it moving which sucks.. especially when ur trying to change lanes and the person your trying to get in front of has their foot flat while i'm lagging my way to 4k
