James, that's a sick buggy! I've been thinking about getting my electric one up and running again....just gotta replace the seals and oil in the rear shockies and replace/repair the munted cells in the battery packs

so you're handy with VW motors then?

my dad and i have a off road buggy. basically a 67? dub with shell and floor pan gone with rollcage in place. got a fastback on the way for the motor (1600) and rear suspension set up.

how hard is it to make it carby and do you have and tips on modding for power. we're in a comp with my uncle and i want to smash him lol

his is a bit.... crap. but its running a datto 200b motor with twin SU's. Note my awesome helmet/goggles

yeh very handy. i got a 72 fastback too, thats locked away in my dads mates garage til i got a garage build (8 months ago hahahHAHAHA jokes on him). most fastbacks are dual carby and its rare to see a bosch fuel injection system still installed and running. use the type3 trans too they are abit stronger than a beetle one and have better ratios. might be worth using the pancake engine with dual carbs so if you snap a fan belt you dont cook the engine

basically bigg headers, big exhaust and the right amount of advance is the best increase without massive coin. on my old beetle i very lightly ported and cleaned up the intake port and then the same with the exhuast ports but polished the hell outta it to near mirror finish and the rest was bog stock apart from a 009 dizzy and a good tune and she flew!

I NO NAHSING!!!

the type3 rear suspension (if its an IRD model and not swing axle) is more beefed up from the beetle too, there 2 rear spring plates (trailing arms) instead of one so there less camber change though its range of motion. also the drum brakes are bigger
