So im getting a fuel pump and regulator installed on my car. Just need to decide which one im getting, I've had an extensive chat with Mark at godzilla motorsports and have been told that the bosch fuel pumps are quite noisy, the walbaros have a bit of screwing around install wise to get them to fit and that in his opinion the smart way to go would be with a Tomei. There a straight bolt on, little noise but are quite pricey.

Anyone got any other suggestions, or any knowledge from personal experiance that would help?

Cars a R34 GTT btw.

Cheers

Sammy

i fitted my walbro with a mate, who helped out coz he has done one before and we had to modify the bottom rubber to make it fit but that didnt take too long, it was pretty much a straight fit besides that. i have never fitted one before and it only took me about 1 hour, having never done it before. wasnt too hard at all.

personally i'd rather go a bosch, but depends on what you want out of the car.If you want just manily bolt on and say 260kw, then go a walbro, if you want more go a bosch, but once again just my opinon and from experience.Id rather have more leeway and more fuel then not enough. Also why other with a fuel reg unless you run big boost and bigger turbo, plus then alot of other high HP cars that i see are still running there original fuel reg.

Ah ok very cool. Well Im having an emanage ultimate installed at teh same time so I think I will just have the pump installed by godzilla at the same time. But from what I was told I just gathered there was alot more screwing around involved with the walbaro as appose to the tomei but apparently not...

as for the regulator. its for future modifications, Id rather have it installed when im doing the Fuel pump and computer than later on when im having the turbo and injectors installed.

Make sure you do something with the intank reg as well, it's a crappy piece of violet plastic inline with the hose, they're not so great. If you can get one from a GTR they're better. Even an R34 GTR fuel reg on the rail is a straight swap

+ 1 for either the Tomei or Nismo items, i went through the same thing you are going through and decided to bite the bullet and i am glad i did, no noise except when priming for a second, even then it is not bad at all. Your call though i cant comment on the bosch or walbro pumps but i can give a massive thumbs up for the Tomei and Nismo pumps, IMHO definatly worth the $$$.

INCORRECT.

now bosch, i had to mess around with that to install it.

+1 for the tomei/nismo

Quiet and has good pickup right down to near empty. Good flow rate to and easy to install

have heard nothing but bad things from a mate with a walbro in his 32 4 door and have limited experience with the bosch. Hear its noisey and has a bad pickup

I've got a Walbro in tank and a bosch 044 after the surge tank. The bosch is quite until you start driving hard then it starts to make a heap of noise like a buzz saw cutting wood. It goes back quite again once all has cooled down. First time I heard it I thought the pump was faulty but the second one does the same thing.

Make sure you have a good gaws on the in tank pump as well.

    • Convert to dual filament bulb   FWIW, it will look odd - I dare say a bit dumb as it looks like your flasher relay has shit the bed.
    • If the RB20 box in the car is a push clutch, then yes, you will need to deal with the pull clutch on the turbo box. You either buy a pull clutch and don't use the old one, or you do the things needed to convert the turbo box's clutch arrangement over to push. Which is a bit of a f**karound. "Making" a custom tailshaft is the easy part. But you will need to source the front clip yoke - the bit that goes into the output of the gearbox. These are not as easy to find. They are out there, but they don't grow on trees the way that they used to.
    • Indicator bulbs are way too bright to use as a "corner marker" (we call them parking lights too). Sure. Go ahead and do it. But realise that you wil need to come up with all your own wiring to do it, as no-one will have a standard howto worked out for Skylines. It's just a matter of abandoning everything that Nissan have done and starting from scratch. You'd probably be better off retrofitting tailght/brakelight globe bases into the front indicator housings and using the taillight circuit for your corner marker and the brake light as the indicator. You'd need to work out how to kill the marker circuit while the indicator is flashing, otherwise it won't flash on-off, just bright-less bright.
    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
