Hi guys T28, T3 they're flange types not turbo ID numbers. This is the Nissan turbo story from R32 onwards as I know it.

Nissan turbos were originally made by Garret especially for Nissan to their requirements. It was at the start of the Garrett ball bearing water cooled range, but Nissan actualy owned the tooling. At R33 V2 Nissan wanted a price reduction, so they took their tooling and hawked it around.

Hitachi offered the cheapest price based on the Nissan tooling but using a plastic impellor. So that's why from then on GTST and GTT turbos had little tiny Hitachi symbols on them and came with plastic impellors. There was a bit of a backlog of Garret turbos, due to changing manufacturing timing, so you occasionally see an R33 V2 with a Garrett not a Hitachi.

So the turbo is a "Nissan Original", not a T3 or a T28 or a T25.............
