What's the deal with SK, whereabouts is he? I see his inbox is full. I know many are suggesting to keep the Neo setup and get the Intake Manifold (Plazaman), the Neo already has the GTR rods and solids already like the GTR, put the RB26 covers and throw on the GT3076R but I was wondering if it can be done with the RB26 head and the individual throttles for more response and also have the twin setup. Now that the situation with the comp ratio being so low I am wondering now. We'll see, but the question still has anyone done it?

There is no deal with SK, if his inbox is full then its full and its probably full from the questions everyone on here asks him.

He isn't obliged to answer anyones questions and I hope you are a bit more respectful to him if he does.

You dont go saying, whats the deal with SK, where is he ect ect

thats just rude

Huh what, bro take it easy, I have spoken to SK more than enough to know him and I don't know where I have come across as disrespectful. I saw his profile and he has not come on in a while now hence the reason I asked what's up with him, don't go jumping to conclusions on your own. He has given me advice many a time on my RB26 build. So anyway I posted this to get a response on an RB26 head on a Neo block now back on topic  , I don't come on here to make enemies, I have been browsing this forum for a couple years now.

You just come across as a bit of a tool.

Btw, I am not your bro...

Have you contributed anything positive to this entire discussion? I won't stoop to your level, how old are you damn? So what do people recommend as a forged setup for the block to bring up the CR a bit?

Correct me if i have this wrong:

you already have a healthy Neo 25, buying dirt cheap 26 (busted) because want to join them so you can take advantage of the multi-throttles?

is that correct? is that the only reason for your conversion?

If that is so, then there are businesses that do a conversion for this. They make an adaptor plate that join the 25 to the GTR plenum.. then just add the GTR covers and most people could not tell the difference. It will be cheaper than pistons and a bebuild.

That will give you a best of both worlds approach with-out all the headaches.

Or, I have a spare RB30! join 30 to your 26 and go really nuts! Yes I will ship it if you want.. (somehow) lol.

What would it cost to ship the block to me in Trinidad? Also whereabouts I can get the adapter plate for the setup, I remember Blitz had a plate. Let me know. Also has anyone used the twin stock manis and changed the flange to the head on the RB25 successfully? Thanks for a perspective and an option for the throttle setup.

I'm running RB26 ITB's on my RB25 head with an adapter plate. It works just fine. There has been some discussion about the angle of the fuel injectors being off and people redrilling the seats, but I haven't and to say mine runs "ok" would be a bit of an understatement

  • 3 weeks later...

From my searching there will be issues with the oil and coolant jackets not lining up. I am looking to do the same with a RB25DET R33 GTS-T Block and a RB26DETT R34 GTR Head. I can keep you posted on what I find out. As for head bolts, the RB25 uses 10mm and the RB26 uses 16mm.

Cheers

Just to outline the options:

To use the rb26 head on the neo for the plenum, ITB's and wow factor you will need to strip the block, re-hone with new pistons from a non-neo engine (might as well go forged), while you're there you would replace all the bearings etc, new head gasket, new turbo set up (since the rb26 wont match your current exhaust manifold/turbo setup), thats a lot of effort especially for an head thats coming of a broken engine, for all you know the head might be damged aswell.

Option 2: Get a greddy manifold if you want a forward facing manifold (they fit from the r33 fine, the fuel rail just needs a few spacers), use a q45 throttle body and if you want the wow factor get the gtr covers and install them, much cheaper, easy and simular gains. The neo head is a good bit of gear, has solid lifters like the gtr head and with the change you'll be saving from not putting pistons in the engine you could get a set of drop in tomie pon cams...

The rb26 head isnt the best choice for a neo, if it was a non-neo rb25 it would be a different story but i wouldnt go that path even if you got the complete engine stupidly cheap. If the rb26 was too cheap to pass up, buy it, strip it, dont spend a cent on the neo engine, rebuild the rb26 and do a comversion...

Well after all was said and done I took some advice and looking at a different plan, I still picked up the damaged RB26 and really it is the crank and block that are shot so I will be keeping the head as a spare along with some other parts and using the individual throttles for the Neo and I will also do a twin turbo setup just to be a little different. I am keeping the block stock for now and gonna get ARP headstuds, Cosworth Headgasket and as suggested the pon cams. The twin turbos that came with the damaged engine were R32 Nismos so I am gonna use them along with the 550 CC Nismo injectors and probably an HKs fuel Rail. I already found a scrapped Neo head so I will do all the work to that head and then swap over the necessary parts like the missing VCT and valves and a couple of valve springs that don't look to be in the best condition.

Yeah I will also use the RB26 cam covers and also at the same time tap the back of the head for the oil return to the sump and put in the needed tomei restrictor in the head. Seeing that I have an N1 Oil Pump I will throw that in with new tensioner and Water Pump. I am not going to bother porting the head as it looks pretty nice already, just new gaskets and valve seals, reseat the valves and make sure everything is in tolerance. For sure I am also gonna have the guides changed as I found that one of the intake guides was cracked so I will have the shop replace all of them. Two quesitons, does anyone know if Neo and regular RB25DET head gasket kits are the same, one with the VCT that is, and also where can I get replacement guides from?
