Wastegate Problem....

Hey fellas, just bought a 38mm wastegate, and there seems to be a problem, after putting in it, i double check to see if it was all connected right, and now when i start the car, my wastegates goes off? while the car is running ( and this is just standing still ) it sounds like a exhaust? and when i went to test it and takes so long too boost? and also a funny smell too after lifting the bonnet up?
