When in Japan, a tourist can never avoid A-B-C = another bloody church.

But I found all of these at Nara interesting.

When it was the capital of Japan during feudal times, you can imagine smoke and mist wafting in and out of alleyways.

Besides deer, there were many pigeons hanging around pooping on everything/everyone indiscriminately. But the Japanese people didn't mind. I couldn't find public toilets plentiful back then. So I wonder how they'd feel if I pooped like the pigeons did...

My former R33 GT-R was midnight purple Beau. That Nismo model of yours should be made to match yours too. It also needs a special place on the mantle etc. haha

Terry

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing the pics with everyone.

It's funny how most things look the same ie Pachinko, School Uniforms, Street Vendors and the aerial shots.

Have you been back to Japan since? How did you find it if you did.

Thanks again

Thank goodness fashion in clothes has changed since 1975/76 as you saw on me in slide Vol 1 - 103 haha

We used to think that we could pretend to be like Chuck Norris back then doing Crescent Kicks (in Karate) in flared pants!

I haven't been back to Japan since. Back in 1975/76, I'd budgetted $2300 for the trip to Taiwan + Japan + Hong Kong + Malaysia + Singapore over 4.5 weeks fly/drive and staying in *** or **** hotels. My partner ran out of $$ by Nara halfway thru' hehe.

Cheers,

Tez

Good stuff terry. Keep them coming im really enjoying seeing all thee old shots.....way before my time too so definitly interesting to see what it looked like back then :P

Beau's doing all the hard work now guys. My hard work finished back in '76.

Yeh there's great shots yet to come...

Thanx for the nice comments Michael, Dan and Tom! I didn't realise you'd be interested in the pics of an old-timer hehe!

I've enjoyed reading and seeing your pics Terry, well done. Reminds me of my folks old skool pics in that era. (not that im a spring chicken myself.. lol) And that brown leather jacket of yours, my dad has the exact same one as well!

lol, you could smoke on planes in the 80s even. used to make me sick as a kid. especially when i'd do long flights like sydney-LA etc. lol, the non-smoking section on a long haul flight was a bit misleading. the whole cabin had a visibility of about 80cm through a cloud of smoke. maybe that's why i smoke now. too much backy exposure as a kid!

Fantastic photos Terry and great work on the conversions Beau. I had no idea you could get output that highly detailed from such a small slide.

The architecture of the buildings there is amazing.

It's interesting being taken back in time like that. Gotta love those threads of yours too :woot:

Great photos, thanks enormously for posting.

Out of interest did the deer in Nara find human flesh as delicious in '76 as they do know? No matter how much you say 私はおいしくない (I am not delicious) they still want a piece of you.....in fact they want the whole damn thing.

On a personal note I was born in 1976 and am living in Japan now and loving it so it is fantastic to see how it was then...once again thanks so much for posting.

Thanks Paul for your keen interest

The deer back in '75-'76 were always bold, but they never went for me.

The stags needed to kept at a distance I think, when the does give off pheromones = mating season... lol
