Yeah not fair mate. BOVs that are vented to the atmosphere are illegal. Stock BOVs are plumbed back in and are of course legal. Ive read this in a few different places.

but the thing is if you get a cop that knows f*k all and they see the name BLITZ or TURBOSMART on it they will defect you anyway. had one go over my whole car and told me any BOV is illegal. except the stock ones. i ended up in a slight argument with him about it and he wouldnt take the fact that mine didnt have a BOV at all cause of diks like these.

but then again i did come across a few other that were so on the ball it wasnt funny.

they knew i didnt have one and they knew the rules. hense officer neil. on the ball +++. he knew his shit and was really nice. what ever you do DO NOT LIE TO HIM AS U WILL PAY FOR IT. he aint no stupid cop and can read you like a book. if he gets a sence of attitude ur screwed. do what i did be nice and honest

remember they can fine you for every defect that you have. at approx $200 a defect it can get costly. think pod not secured down, to low, boost controller, turbo timer, exhaust to loud, after market turbo, BOV etc. that would cost you about $1400. im scared.

Regency is f#$king me UP!!! i currently have 4! Defect stickers on my car cos of stupid inspectors, I had a inspection on the 22nd to check my height and 1 bold tire that i replace, I DIDNT PASS! because the inspector said my battery was freaken loose! after that i took my car to a mechanic and they check my battery and it was held really TIGHT! wasnt even loose at all! i then rebooked it in for wednesday and they cheked my car but THIS TIME they said my battery needed some kinda small hose for it so i didnt pass AGAIN! why coudnt they tell me bout the hose on the monday? i then quickly rebooked my car for the next day which was thursday and they checked my car and said battery was fine but my speakers were loose, what did this have to do with road safety? this is just BS! so all together i have 4 stickers and cant afford another fail.. what a great week... =='

your car is actually defectable now for obstruction of vision......go figure.

seriously though, why are they picking new things up after each visit.......it's not like they're defecting the same thing over and over again?!

i was under the impression that once you fail, they give you your defect paper work with what needs to be fixed.

once you have fixed the problems that you were defected for and the problems that you were done for again at regency, they are only meant to check those problems.

because basically they are telling you they arent doing their job right the first time or second, third and forth.

i would report it because once youve fixed what they told you too that should be it unless it the first time.

not sure who you report too but id be finding out asap!!

I might have a possible meeting with Officer Neil in the near future. The main reasons for the discussion will be because of the new club ... but I will endeavour to raise this issue with him. kb-r33 can you PM me the details to which you were defected for 'each time' of your visits. Our aim is to not look for immunity from defects, but to have an adequate and fair defect system. Stories like this are indeed worrying. Do not interpret this as me helping you out of your defect ... I am intending to use you as a case example if/when I meet with Neil.

:(

yeah, I can't see how Neil can help in this instance but can't hurt to get some advice.

Unfortunately Regency aren't answerable to the police they are bound by ADR's and as such don't give 2 hoots what cops think.

It's a govt issue and therefore your local MP may have more pull in this matter, especially because Regency are making you go back and forth for different issues each time when they should be doing the full inspection on the 1st visit.....would be different if they make you go back & forth over the same issue because you haven't successfully cleared it the 1st time.

The deal with 4 canaries covering the windscreen is a bit of a worry.......maybe ask Neil what the deal is there cause it would definitely be a hazard with a major blind spot like that.

I've heard the same as Kye, thought they only check what its defected for and can not keep adding to the list with different stuff. Just makes it look bad for themselves, in that they cant spot it first time through :(

I thought that regency couldnt defect you on your revisit....they are only meant to check the defects they redefect you for before and if that has been fixed then well they cant pick you for another defect......i would be so pissed off with them if that happened to me mate.....but what can you do aye...hopefully you can get through this time without hassles mate

Goodluck

    • What can't be done with a little bit of decking board or similar timber bolted to a hub flange via 2 wheel nuts is not worth talking about.
    • I noticed something. On the tps sensor and the sensor behind the adjustment screw is adjusted towards the far left. Are these screws supposed to be centered? (this sensor was in the same position before the tune as well)  Also attached a photo of where my car usually idles at when warm (sometimes a tiny bit above that). I think I might have screwed up the calculation and it might have better than I thought lol at 750rpm still not 650rpm though.
    • So for both general interest of engine health, and to rule out any coolant/oil issues, I organised an oil analysis done on the 125,000klm oil Results below, all good, just a bit of fuel dilution which I'm not too worried about
    • This is actually a really good way of measuring what wheels fit. If only there was a similar measurement between hub face and suspension :p That said, it's probably pretty simple to actually measure it all with the wheel off the car for the rear. The front is a bit more complex but..
    • Being the top Google search result for R34 wheel-related inquiries, lemme throw down my experience. I calculated that 100mm from hub face to wheel face is about the perfect fitment for my ENR34 sedan.  I've been running 18x8.5s, ET35, with a 1" spacer. So, 8.5in to mm = 216mm. 216/2 = 108mm. 108-35 = 73mm. 73+ 25 (1" to mm) = 98mm.  If you wanna get close to this on dif widths, here are the offsets you'll want: 9" - ET around 15mm 9.5" - ET around 20mm 10" - you're crazy, but ET around 30mm All these should fit perfectly on a non-widebody, non-GTR Skyline. Note that it's probably the absolute max, and you're probably better off running a couple degrees of camber in this config, but it looks great, super flush.
