about as much as mine if i was ever to go :)

the hole in the driver side for cooler pipe should be ok if it looks neat, reo you may get away with i don't think they take your front bar off to see how much you have,

you will defiantly want to fit up a standard boost solenoid and get rid of the bleed valve

not 100% sure about the brakes they may put you on the brake tester, the NA brakes do a fine job of pulling up the turbo car just not for extended periods of hills driving, metal intake should be fine also

Has anyone gone thru regency with a car from interstate to find out its never been registerd in any state before. Now I have to get the compliance papers and a few other things.

Call the regency hotline and they will tell you exactly what you need. Probably worth taking it past a compliancing shop as well to make sure everything has been ticked off.

Just got sent to regency sad.gif

I have a R33 GTS4 with an rb25det in it from a Stagea (being originally non turbo). Have not changed the brakes so I'm guessing I will need to, which is no fuss as I was planning to do it soon. The real issue is my front mount. I have a hole in the driver's side engine bay for the cooler piping, and my front bar/Reo has been cut to fit in the cooler. When fitting in the engine there were imprints of holes already there I just drilled them out, apart from one which we had to drill out (below the fuse box). How big of a problem is this?

I have a few breather mods as well such as metal intake, bigger hot pipe, etc. I also have a bleed valve and no boost solenoid.

Basically what I'm asking is how far is my leg in the shit?

You will need brakes off of an R33 to pass, boost solenoid isn't needed as the R32 didn't come with one, exhaust etc is fine as long as it passes an idle emissions test (which it probably wont with a highflow cat, put a stock one on for the test). All emissions gear, carbon canister etc has to be hooked up as well.

Re cutting the front bar, depends which parts you cut and how bad/obvious it is.

you want too hope the car has been or can be complied and it hasent been bought in for motor sport use only

The car has been complied just need to get the paper work as the original owner never registered it. He had 3 gtr's I guess he drove around with trader plates or something or it just sat in his shed. The last owner is overseas and I have to wait for him to get home to send all the paperwork because autotrans wouldnt allow any paperwork in the car. I also have to change coilovers and headlights and take the tinting off. If regency only mention those 3 things is that the only thing I have to change or will they find more next time. Anyway Vince from import compliance systems is going to help me with the list.

Yep you only have to fix the things found on the first inspection. Unless the you are a dick to the officers or there are obvious unroadworthy modifications they won't fail you second time round providing everything has been fixed.

its an R33 gts4 that has a stag motor in it.

it NEEDS to have a boost solenoid fitted. and they do look for them.

gotta make sure all the brakes work properly including handbrake, all seat belts retract freely yadda yadda yadda

if you want Stefan, ill come round sometime and show you exactly what you need to do etc

Much appreciated Mitch. I have 48 hours to drive it so I might be able to swing past your’s sometime. I've booked the car in for Tuesday, I just hope I can get everything sorted out before the 18th as my rego is running out, and I really don't want to tow it there.

Well I went back to regency today with everything fixed on the list. They now tell me my 18" wheels have to come off even though it came factory with 18s. Also need brand new tyres for first rego. I couldnt beleive they let a shite box through in front of me. That would of been a car not to put through. Can I get a tyre placard to suit the 18s or should i put 17s on to suit the placard. The next thing is because of the big brakes I dont think the 17s will fit. Im hoping they will otherwise its more work. Once the wheels are sorted they better not find anything else.

get the placard to suit your car, then get rims to suit the placard

Isnt the placard on there now to suit the car allready. So I will need one to suit the wheels

Can you just go and buy any placard or does it need to be engineered

what car?

what car?

I bought a r33 gtr original tommy kaira. It came factory with 18s, coilovers big brakes and piaa headlights. I changed the suspension and headlights last week and pulled the tint off because thats all that was on the list. Now there adding to it.

Does it come with the tommy placard in the engine bay? Point it out and ask to talk to their supervisor. They cannot re-defect you after the first inspection anyways. The 18" rim size is a joke also, even if it was a bog stock r33 gts n/a 18" is fine as long as theyre within rolling diamater and no more then 15mm out of track.

Its a special edition car, as long as the wheels are genuine kaira ones you shouldn't be having any issues anyways... bunch of idiots.

There ssr 18s but from factory they came with tommy kaira ones. I showed him the special plate then he went back in the room and still came out and said i had the wrong tyre placard. I might ring there supervisor tomorrow and explain a few things. There just following rules I guess but they still could of got all that the first time. A car that has never been registered needs new tyres. I also thought you could go 1" above the placard anyway.

It wouldn't have really mattered if it was a TK or not that came with all those things as it was still orignally a R33 GTR and it's still a 33 GTR to the eye's of VIS.

The car would have come out of factory as a normal skyline then TK modded it from factory and they just put a label on it saying so.

As for your 18's, they should have passed as long as they do not go over track, outside the gards etc and the treads sweet.

If the car was never rego'd in AUS then it does need new tread or really close too it that was put on in AUS. It's been the case with a few of my mates when getting cars over from Japan and it happened to me a few years ago.

Also, if you fixed EVRYTHING listed on the defect sheet, they really shouldn't have done you again so long as when changing the suspension it hasn't made your wheel stick out of the gaurds. If this is the case, then they really should have been abit more forgiving then that but it's still their job in the end.

If it hasn't changed anything, then they are saying that they can't do their job right in the first place and you can kick and scream but nothing with happen lol.

Goodluck with your car mate.

I look at the tk special edition like the VL walkinshaw. You could own an original one and drive around without a problem because they were made from a factory but if you made a copy then you are most probably going to get picked because it wasnt done from factoy if you get what I mean

Yeah, but an Aussie built car would have gone through all the AUS road crap while your going through it all now.

The Walki would have been built to comply with the AUS road laws (of it's time) while the GTR would have been made for JAP road laws (of it's time).

Either way, both were modded from a factory car by a none factroy company to their own specs. Just your going through all the bullshit now while Walkinshaw went through it all when making the car in Australia.

It's crap but kind of makes sense.

I believe the bottom line is "they have to have everything as per original" for compliance. It looks you haven't got a set of tk rims anyhow even if he did confirm the plate match, so you need to get/borrow a set of original 17" GTR rims just for the compliance. Once you've made them happy, you can do the 18's provided they are no more than 1" wider and add no more than 26mm on the track and not change the rolling diameter of the tyres by more than 15mm.

BTW what was the original waiting time to get into regency and how long do you have to wait each successive time.

Also I have heard of people going back to regency after fixing their first lot of items and then they find more faults to fix and then again more faults to fix. This may be if you don't get the same inspector each time.

I know im going to have to get 17s but I dont think they will fit over the 360mm rotors. Which will be the next hassle. I waited about half an hour the last 2 times and another half while there going over it.
