Well, I'm off defect. Spotted tx3_90 while I was there.

ahh so that was you, hai!

yeh i got through as well... was my second inspection $68 and 5min of checking i fixed everything on the list.

funnily enough as i was driving out i remembered that the boost controller was still hooked up in the engine bay (had 72hrs after first inspection so put it on for a bit of fun) but he didn't check. :D

back to saving up for a paint job.

cock of shit! they'll still find something if they wanted to

Yeah you're right. Neil pulled up my skyline which is pretty much standard (on the outside, anyway!).

It's a black 4-door with after market mag wheels. That's all. It's not lowered, no body kit, standard exhaust system...but has the worst thing of all...A skyline badge.

And hence the reason for my defect. :D

there is always something you can get done for but that was his main concern. i would rather sell my car rather than go through regency

Which, according to Neil, is exactly what he WANTS! He told us when he pulled us over and defected our skyline that it was his aim "to convince Skyline drivers to sell their cars".

Our response was "And sell them to who, Neil? Teenage hoons who will actually do something illegal in them?"

To which he had no reply.

:D

:D

ouch

was something like $137...

you sit down at a chair just infront of the car

First thing he does is check all indicators/lights, seat belts, pop the boot+bonnet etc

The guy hardly looked in the engine bay - looked completely standard for him to bother I guess.

He spent the most time under the car - hoisted the car up and went straight to the rear where the hicas is and looked around there, looked at the bushings and components around each wheel, he then jacked the front up and had a crow bar looking thing pushing the wheel up - may of been testing the shocks? or bearings?

No exhaust decibel check - was quiet enough.

Did a brake test for front and rear - sigh of relief when the word PASS went up on the screen lol

After all that he just mentioned the passenger seat was moving about a smidge - need to tighten a bolt down or something, but apart from that everythings good. He removes sticker, signed it off and away I go.

All up from arriving to the front office to exit took no more than 30 minutes.

Yeah this sounds about right. Got my defect off first time too on the 12th January. I sent the missus in with the car because I am known for my temper if the inspector started being an asshole, but it was all good. Everything passed...

...except my window tinting on the front driver and passenger windows, which I had to strip off with a razor blade infront of him before he would sign the release form.

Guy who did it was nice though, he thought any copper who targeted skylines was a bit 'wanky'.

Tint-a-car fitted me in that afternoon too. All in all, not that bad! :D

:P

lol just what i was thinking, hey good idea, get everyone with experience driving imports to sell them to people without experience driving imports, that makes sense lol

i know i wont sell my car because of defects, it will because of crashing it if anything, so using niels logic police should encourage us to go as hard as possible so we crash and get rid of our cars.

They might start pulling us over like they do in the US...by rear ending us with a cop car...

So you were defected for a badge? ;)

Tell us then ... what were you defected for? What do you mean by "pretty much standard"?

hrmm your skyline wouldnt have happened to be parked in a shopping centre car park on main north road on friday?? i saw a skyline exactly how you describe yours but this r33 wasnt defected...

Yeah..standard on the OUTSIDE...he told me he pulled me over because it was a Skyline. No other reason.

However, under the hood I was busted for turbo timer, boost controller and BOV. Oh, and gauges up the A-pillar.

Fixed it all and passed first time at Regency last week!

hey guys,

I was pulled over a bit back near marion shopping center, the deal was, reved out 2nd into the corner to get the orange turning light and got a fine for excess noise pollution?!? $133 for that. Formal corsion on pod being loose/not secure, but the coppa was looking 4 the tyre placard. car has had a respray and aint there?

In regards to the wheel diameter measurment, 16'' is standard on the placard 4 a 32 but mine has been painted over how would i go about getting a replacement?

cheers

    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
