nope. new rules say its within so many mm of standard rolling diameter.

however, youre still only permitted a 1 inch increase in track per axle (about 12.5mm per side).

as most know, defected at the ns cruise for the following;

legit;

1) suspension too low. (its sacked, simple, i know it, you know it, they know it, not complaining)

2) tint too dark. (true, its 35% when it should be 70%, but realistically, as soon as i put my sunnies on, im driving illegally anyway)

retarded/not so legit;

1) boost gauge not permitted. (no reason given, not mounted on crash pad, not obscuring speedo/tacho, nothing was said about water temp gauge on the steering column).

2) wheels have extra holes, not suited. (multifit rears, as purchased, apparently illegal for reasons that i couldnt comprehend)

3) wheel nuts to be replaced with standard. (im using anodized red steel wheel nuts, these are apparently not legal because theyre less likely to bend or break compared to standard wheel nuts... i shit you not).

i was also warned that my adr approved velo bucket seat was unsafe because the cushions are removable and might come off at any given time while driving, its been in for 2 trackdays and has stayed exactly where i put it, complete bs.

i expect the last 4 entries to be laughed at when i get to regency.

most likely. and this is the truly sad thing when it comes to rookie cops/non traffic cops that havent got a clue but want to make a quota.. any chance the first two could have been classified as a minor defect and get cleared at sturt or some other police station?

I still cringe when I hear of idiot cops trying to defect turbo cars simply because theyre running a stock BOV..

well, ive got the paperwork in front of me, defect category is marked as minor. but apparently, being suspension related, that requires a full regency inspection. aids. but im gonna try for a copshop clearance anyway.

bollocks. if its minor it can be cleared by a cop shop

minor = detectable and verifiable by a cop shop inspection

major = cops arent sure and want regency to make sure

Edit - Gauges are all legal provided they a) dont obstruct vision, b) are securely attached c) are not in the travel path of your skull if your car was to go from 60-0 in 1 metre.. multifit wheels sold in Aus are always legal, otherwise u can sue the tits off the seller and manufacturer - if theyre JDM you could be shit out of luck, re wheel nuts - not sure why but they tend to want stock wheel nuts and tyre air valve plugs with stockers, rather than ADR/CAMS approved variants - again, I think this is due to stupid politicians with nothing better to do, but there it is... gotta chuck the stockers back on for now it seems.. last one sounds like the argument of a man who knows he using and wants to make a cheap shot - if its ADR approved, fitted on an ADR rail then I see no problem.

Make sure you document absolutely everything, matter of fact it'd be good if you recorded your conversations while they're going over the car so we can analyze it.

Not when it's ticked for a Vehicle Inspection Station and not a cop shop; but I'd still try my luck anyway

<snip>

yup, thats basically my way of thinking. the seat will probably be a no no at the end of the day though, while the rail is super solid (you yank on the seat and the car moves with it), it isnt an adr rail. and also being a 2 door car, im not dead certain, but im 90% sure that you cant legally rock a fixed back unless you basically remove the back seat and register it as a 2 seater.

wheel nuts im not changing. his reasons were bullshit. and in the book tyrepower has about all this shit, wheels nuts are only mentioned in regards to the minimum number required per wheel, 3.

the gauges ill be removing, but ill be quizzing the traffic guys at the local cop shop about placement when i swing past with the 200.

oh, i will be.

and if i have no luck there, im going to see if terry (troys dad) can take it through regency for me, im thinking they'll be kinder to an old mate doing someone a favour than they will be to me.

My Ceffy got done for having a stock blow off valve, and so did my mates 32. Shame there is nothing we can do about it. :D

Sucks the most was I was minding my own business down the road when an undercover copper appeared outta nowhere cutting off 4 other drivers behind me.

My mate was in a carpark waiting for some friends, parked near him told him to pop the bonnet. Shit is just ridiculous. :(

hey guys, is a oil cooler a defect and/or would it pass regency? if not what about a sandwich plate inbetween the oil filter to plug gauges into? is that a defect?

no on both counts, provided its done righht

properly mounted dude. and not leaking. ill be hella surprised if my kit isnt passed.

and i doubt you need braided lines for it to pass, as long as the lines and fittings are designed for the job (not leaking), it shouldnt be problem.

im using earls billet blocks with an earls core, earls high temp & high pressure rubber lines with speedflow fittings throughout.

i called vehicle standards about this and was told that aslong as one of the seats comes forward to allow entry to the rear seats then there is no drama, even said if you put it in writing to them they will give you that in writing.

i lol'd so hard at those retarded 4 points.....wtf is with the wheel nuts, i cannot use standard wheel nuts on my wheels as they wont even come close to fitting.....i am getting more and more worried about these wanna be uneducated cops trying to issue a defect because in their eyes we are all hoons and should be off the road.....

as far as i was aware in regards to the bucket seat, you wont be able to have a fixed back in a 2 door car registered as 4 seater.....you would have to ditch the rear seats plug all the holes and crap and then reregister it as a 2 door 2 seater car and that way you can have both front seats as fixed back......well this is what i was told when i last when through regency

for anyone thats interested, i just printed something off dtei that says as of the 1st of jan, 35% tint will be legal on windows except the windscreen (obviously).

    • Unfortunately haven’t taken pics yet after it was finished. All the edges are hemmed nicely, just had to cut holes for the gear shifter and seat bolts and seat belt bolts in the rear. The molds seem like they’re done with steam and a layer of glue on the underside to hold a bit of shape but still soft enough that it’s a good fit when it’s all pressed down.
    • When's the rear mounted turbo kit coming? Needs dose and V8 chop idle lol.
    • I was very unimpressed with how the car came up from the A pillar forward, before I hit things (twice). It all has to go. It had to go, but now it has to go... more. So we finally found the very first Shennanigans with the entirely perfectly setup engine that had no problems being pulled apart to improve on 'was perfectly fine'. Cam bearings looked a bit... stock. Which isn't entirely bad given they were stock and this is a ~20 year old engine. So new cam bearings are on the way because it's somewhat difficult to get to this stage to do it later, and it will trash the block. It was quite unusual that it wasn't done when the perfectly new-looking VCM cam was originally installed by [unknown] What IS unusual is the cam that was installed there was advanced SIX degrees. As to why there is no way to know.. however it could have been @Dose Pipe Sutututu's mate who wanted a larger cam sound but also wanted it to come on earlier to be more usable. This is my dyno sheet with the previous setup - This cam is not supposed to peak until 7000+ RPM, according to VCM. This is what lead me down the whole 'my heads/intake setup is running out of puff and can't support the cam' line of thinking to begin with. Anyway too late now - New cam is in! It could be rather funny if this smaller cam acts like a larger cam because it isn't advanced six degrees. In the spirit of everything is working amazingly - the COMP cam required no dialling in whatsoever. It was about 0.5 degrees advanced, which seems pretty bang on. Any adjustment either way would be further out. I'm told as a chain breaks in it ends up regarding back about 0.5 a degree as the chain breaks in, making it bang on. In the spirit of everything was previously working amazingly - The timing gear that was taken out turned out to be was an N-Motion double timing chain kit, with adjustable cam gear (which is how it was 6 degrees advanced) and all looks entirely perfectly new. It also had a Torrington bearing, which was one of the reasons I ended up getting the Cloyes kit which they used in the C5R 24 hour racecar - Because I couldn't confirm what was in the engine when talking to Tony Mamo. I did believe however it was a Double chain kit of some kind... but found no supporting documentation or evidence for it.
    • I recently did this to my R33 with the full set from Car Mats Direct, they can't do the vinyl anymore that's advertised on the website due to a supplier issue so I ended up with the Black Loop Pile which looks great. I went all out with rubber sound deadening sheets from Repco and also added the sound deadening foam layer option with the carpet. Makes a world of difference and got rid of all the weird smells in the 29 year old interior. It was a bit of work but I'd 100% recommend it, Car Mats Direct had awesome customer service and quick postage. Replaced my seats with some sporty ones from Autotechnia while I was at it, feels like a new car.
