chyeahhh your telling me !

Yeah but how many of you drive your car daily? How many kms per week?

I drive mine EVERY DAY, do at least 500kms a week.

Ive beed defected 6 times last year, twice this year. none of which I've done anything wrong, always nice and polite to the officer, never driving like a dick causing trouble. (ok a couple times i had massive wheels on but that does not reflect my atitude, driving style or personality).

Doesnt matter what anyone says, its blatantly obvious that imports are an easy target and they know that 99% of the time they get away with defecting anything they like for anything they want.

The only defect I've gotten was for driving at the speed limit sensibly not swerving or doing anything out of the ordinary, minding my own business heading to a restaurant to have breakfast.

I saw the cop took a good look at me as soon as his car popped out of a side street.

He did the exact same thing months later, pulled out of the same side street and comes up to my rear as I was waiting at the traffic lights - as soon as I saw who the cop was I knew what its going to be about.

Both times was a random breath test but he wasnt at all interested at all about the reading nor if I was acting strange due to drugs or anything - he just wanted the bonnet popped open and he went straight towards where a boost solenoid would of been - second time around there was nothing there so off he went.

I've driven a skyline as a daily for the last 5 years, drive it almost every single day with no issues. Where do you live? I wouldn't even get the opportunity to be pulled over most days, there just aren't that many police around.

just on 5yrs now been pulled over once for a " breath test" but when he seen it was a old fart i didnt even get breath tested lol just said have a nice day and drive safe that was it ...i was shitting myself cause my tint is dark as and the milo tin exhaust he prob thought it was my sons car :-).

since i put my mid life crisis sticker on the back ive never been looked at .

That is some shocking handwriting...

Chunk out of rear left tyre and WHAT?

Steering wheel WHAT not WHAT?

Chunk Out of rear left tyre

Modified steering wheel & horn not working

Which are both no brainers

Theyre defectable. Can hardly complain about it. They even make sense imho.

oh im sorry captain obvious (Y) !

the tyre was hardly a defect... it had a bit of sidewall missing which did NOT affect anything what so ever

the horn was just a relay

i dont get why its a regency...

i guess they need to fund crispy cremes some how..

so yeah i got another defect

but this is a crock of shit ,

read it...

Um they are both defectable items, unless the steering wheel has a boss kit and is ADR approved it is defectable as it could cause serious injury in an accident, same goes for the tyre, theres a chunk missing? It could blow out at high speed or if you spin the wheels, also very dangerous.

I'd replace them and go to the police station though, they should be able to clear it as I didn't think they were regency required.

Because otherwise you could get a blow out, spin out and hit another car injuring yourself, your steering wheel which doesn't have an approved boss kit fails to collapse properly and smashes your head open. They are reasonable defects.

the tyre is fine , had numerous tyre shops confirm this

plus i had two new tyres fitted 3 hours later...

ive got the paper work from when it went through regency a couple months ago saying it passed so i dont see what the issue should be

+1 yes, its a MINOR defect so u can clear it at the station

and +2 for both those above points cause theyre exactly the reason its defected

i had a cop pull me over in january and point out I had a sliver missing on one of the rears and that he could have defected me but told me to change it...

went to blackwood tyrepower and got sorted but thats a whole nother story

afaik the only adr approved aftermarket steering wheels are all Momo, which sucks if you have a Nardi (like I do)

and by law ALL cars have to have working horns, so thats a no brainer.

    • What do you mean?  In between the two I shared?  They're the same boost   This will be insane.   A mate has a GTSt with a 9:1 RB30/25 with Tomei 256 cams and a Borg S362SX-E that is already a beast from the basement but has a stock 5 speed and will probably get a ZF8 one day.  After the G35 900 RB26 setup I'd be lying if the topic of "Wtf would a divided G35 be like on this thing?" idea hadn't come up - you'd definitely want a wide boost control range setup with it, as even with the less responsive and potent S361 we're having to ramp boost in from very low levels in the early gears.
    • ZF8 is faster, wider ratio spread, better in every way. I do not dispute this. But I have brain damage and I want the feeling of shifting gears. To me the extra work is fun, but I daily an automatic and in the US like 90+% of cars are automatic so a manual transmission is an "exotic" experience. If I want an automatic I've driven an F80 M3 with DCT more than a few times and it's incredibly capable but it's emotionally vacant to me.
    • Different folks for different folks I guess - for me, the 6MT > ZF8 claim is wild.  If I had a manual Skyline I'd be saving up fix that with a ZF8.  I went for a M135i, has the N55 which resolves a lot of the issues the N54 has, it already has the ZF8, is barely heavier than an R34 GTt, full boost before 2000rpm while also being real-word-faster than my old 280kw @ hubs R33 GTS25t and doing absolutely everything better.  There's nothing I'd change on it to be more like my old Skyline, tbh... it doesn't sound the same but it's got it's own awesome sound - definitely not worse.   To be fair I can't argue with most of those points.  I guess i was pointing it out as a comparison for a Skyline GTR and it's much closer all around there, like the weight difference between an M240i and an R34 GT-R isn't that much etc.   As above, I ended up getting an M135i which is in the 1400kg range - the M140 and M240is that you can get up till 2018 are B58, ZF8, RWD and in the 1400kg range which is a bit of fun... but doesn't fit the tyre etc of the Supra.  They are a run drive, though- maybe no an A90 Supra but a huge upgrade over a Skyline "sporty chassis" wise.
    • Im loving this thread. I have a g35/900 t4 split 1.00 ar going on my rb30/25 with 9:1 and 264 cams. its drive by wire and with vct i think it should spool nicely. I have the 8speed gearbox on the floor ready to go on so full boost changes will be a thing if the tyres can deal with it. it should always be on boost
    • The trouble for me is the automatic takes away so much from it. And the E92 has hydraulic power steering. Even after putting in an LSD you're looking at re-mapping the xDrive to be more like a Skyline which is just a lot of effort for something that is supposed to be easier and cheaper. I consider the E92 335i 6MT to basically be the obviously superior car to something like an R34 GTT. Half the price out here, the N54 makes so much more power so easily, is a far more refined car, etc. You do have to deal with the nightmare of the N54's foibles vs the B58 which is comparatively miles better and if a turbo does fail it's only one of them vs two and a lot less pipe spaghetti.  996 or 997 Turbo has the AWD system mapped like a Skyline. Basically always RWD unless engaging the front axle makes sense. A coworker let me drive his 997.2 Turbo 6MT and it's absolutely tremendous. I don't think I'd want more power in a street car.
