Hi guys!

I have this turbo charger on my car (a normal 1500cc Toyota). My mechanic, or rather, ex-mechanic told me it was taken of a Skyline, no idea which model. I was also told it was a T28 turbocharger with ceramic bearings (or was it fins, i can't remb). I also remember him mentioning something about it was from an RB25 nissian engine or something.

Look at the pics, can anyone clarify the following:

Is it a T28 turbo?

Are these made by Garrett for Nissan?

Is it a ball bearing turbo?

whats the specs of the turbo? (Turbine and Compressor A/R, diameters, it will be best if there is a compressor map)

Any comments on how would it fare on a 1.5L Toyota engine?

Hope someone can clear my doubts.

it is an rb20det turbo. you can tell by the hole in the commpressor cover that is tapped. normally a nipple goes here to give you a boost pressure signal. it also has 16V on the compressor cover indicating it is an rb20 turbo.

it has ceramic turbine and an metal compressor wheel. it also has ball bearings.

they produce enough airflow for 165rwkw at around 14psi. don't run any more boost than 14psi as the turbine is likely to brake.

it would be well suited to a 1.5 litre engine.

cheers!

Hi there. Thanks for the information.

You were saying something about a nipple, but I do not see a vacuum line connected to any nipple on the compressor housing. Is this ok?

Oh my.. currently I am running at 18 psi, and my mechanic (idiot) assured me that it was OK.

Would you by any chance know the A/R of the turbine and compressor housing?

Lastly, lets say I want to replace the turbo, what are my options for a direct bolt on? Would a Garrett GT2554R be a direct bolt on? (i.e. both flanges on the turbine are the same as this.
