Best Way To Check If A Car Isnt Stolen?

Hey all, i was just wondering if anyone knew how to check a car out before buying it to ensure it isnt a stolen car as it is fairly cheap for what it is and has a few dings here n there. The car has been unregistered since March 2008 so its not that old but i believe i have heard something about checking the VIN number on it?

what ways can i go around to checking to ensure the vehicle is legit?

there is a FAST thread (nissan database) on here that you can post the vin in. ppl will b able to tell you what the car looked like from factory. avoids rebirths

Call the vehicle security hotline.

Just get down the vehicle's VIN number and engine number, go into VicRoads (or call them) and they'll do the check and find out for you within seconds.

Also remember that VicRoads will be going over your car to make sure it's in road worthy condition for rego because it's been unregistered for so long.

You can check on the Vic roads website if it's stolen or under finance

Just type in the rego number and it tells you, can also purchase the certificate for a small fee
