Went looking with a mate in dandenong yesterday at cars for himself and i thought id get my car valued and see what i could get for it.

N/A's are starting to hold their value a bit more than some turbo's but i thought this is rediculus.

Started talking to a dealer pretending im interested in doing a trade in and purchase a r33 97 gtst.

First of all i have a black 96 r33 series 2 GTS.

18 inch Black PDW wheels with 6month old tyres

headunit, amp, sub, speakers.

extractors, pod, hi flow cat, 2.5inch piping, and cannon system.

Paint is perfect, engine running perfect,

the guy looks through it see if eevrything works..and only thing he has to complain about is a tiny tear on the side of the drivers seat.

The gtst i looked at was dead stock and wanted 14k for it lol

the guy offers me $7000 for my car. thought that was absolutly horrible so pretended to still be interest and got a test drive the gtst for the sake of it and left later on.

The skylines the dealer hand in his yard were pretty poor condition and selling for quite a bit considering their age. But yeah what can you do ;) im pretty bored so i thought i might tell you my story.

Also went to plunkett rd theres a yard there that has some nice imports mainly skyline, and they had a tuff as black r33 gtst with adjustable sus, front bar, for 15k

With the way the dealers suffering at the moment people are really pushing then down on new cars... ...Pickles yesterday had about 50 new cars from a Holden dealer that shut down... ...Holden Corp didn't want to buy them back so they went for auction... ...It sucks at the moment if you're trying to sell privately... ...But then you can also get a good deal if you're buying...

its a car dealer, what do you expect (theyre a business)?

he will buy it from you for 7k and sell it for 11k the next day and hope some sucker buys it at that price

if not he has plenty of room to move down and still make lots of profit

he is a business, not a buddy to help you out

Why should an N/A 33 be worth anything? They cost nothing in Japan- it's just all the costs involved in getting them here and registered that add to the expense.

If the p-plate laws hadn't changed, no-one would want one at all. Heck, I've seen a number of manual 33 GTSt's for sale around the $7.5k mark recently.

actually from personal experience i found it hard to find a decent n/a for under 10k that wasnt very long ago either, a few of them had the usual mods rims zorst stereo etc in really nice nick were asking 13-14k for them O.O

i got a good deal for mine 11.5 about 5 months ago, took me ages to find one i wanted mine already came with rims zorst and a 4k sound system (have recent receipts) so thought that was ok :D

P.S the manual / auto / coupe / 4 door has a MASSIVE factor. usually a grand or 2, more for 34s.

E.g could of gotten a 34 4 door auto for 11k, or a 34 2 door manual for 15-16 was outrageous for N/a's

exactly. i used to be a car sales person last year and we absolutely ripped off a guy who wanted to trade in his 06 rx8. traded it in for $24,000 and still had to pay out his loan. Bought a small 4wd for about $36k driveaway. my workmate who did the deal got a massive commision.

ur 33 isn't worth alot in a car yard but if u sell privately u might be able to get another thousand or so but don't expect much from it as you can get r33 series 2 manuals for around 12k at dealerships and cheaper privately.

I wouldnt pay much more than 7 or 8K for a N/A33 private sale. The only thing going for it is its a S2. Subwoofers and exhausts mean nothing to me and being a Skyline you cant guarantee how many km's it has done.

Alot of it comes down to the fact that you love and take care of your car and so you think its worth alot more than whats on offer which is a good thing because as a buyer it's an indication that it prob wasnt neglected. :D

Agree with most of the comments here.

7k for a 12 year old N/A Skyline is pretty good! I would of thought a bit less myself.

To put it in prospective, a good mate of mine & myself went shopping for a new car for him last Friday, now he has a rather nice 2005 Forester XT manual, luxury pack, the works 100ks full Subaru history etc etc.... average trade in price ? 12k!

early next year i will be selling my gtst, it has exhaust fmic, nismo dash and ej1, injectors, fuel pump, z32 and power fc and i will only be asking around 10g, i would think 7g would be a good price for an over weight and under powered car.

    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
