Greddy Boost Controller Issue

have a greddy profec b spec in my R34 GT-T and because i was unhappy with my first tuner i gave to another guy to tune. However he says something is strange with the greddy boost controller. I haven't witnessed it personally but he says that he can't switch between modes on the controller and everytime he tries to use the adjuster knob the LCD screen just displays 'OFF'. Anyone have anything like this happen before and had it fixed?? Or is my controller farked and time for a new one?

umm you press and hold the mode button to turn it on. maybe take it to somewhere who knows the controller, or at least leave them the manual
