Simple And Straight Forward Stereo Install

Recommended Posts

Is there any decent audio places that people can recommend around Melb?

Do not want anything exotic, just need some neat/reasonable quality splits for the front. 6.5" speakers for the rear parcel shelf and a small amp to drive them off my existing deck.

Most importantly is sound quality and weight...thoughts on brands/places?

I think Ben that does the alarm installs in the members sections can do it. I asked him a few questions a few weeks ago when he did the alarm on my mrs skyline regarding audio installs and he seems to know what he's talking about...

P.S: Very happy with the alarm install this guy did btw and recommend him

/plug

is this for your r32?

If so,

When you pull out the factory headunit and replace with aftermarket headunit, the rear speakers wont work. This is due to the factory amp located under the parcel shelf (silver round dome). You will need to cut the loom and re-wire it to bypass the amp and go straight to the rear parcel shelf speakers.

More info on the factory amp bypass here;

(website is down try the cache version; http://web.archive.org/web/20050301012520/...ivespeakers.htm )

However as you will be running a 4ch amp you will not need to bother bypassing the factory amp.

This is how the amp was installed if you need to do this too;

In regards to rear speakers; make your own parcel shelf.

I recommend Stylyn Car audio in Boronia (http://www.stylyn.com/)

But doing yourself will always be better as majority of companies rush installation and will most likely crack some interior clips/panels etc.

Audio supplier (www.ryda.com.au) real cheap compared to autobarn/repco.

Clarion is a cheap and good company for audio.

Hope that all helps.

Thanks Rekin, but i already have a decent stereo i wired up about 8 years ago when i bought the car. I removed the 2 x 12: subs and Rockford amp when i started doign track work, and now my custom parcel shelf with 6x9s weighs too much. I want a small, lightweight amp to drive some 6.5" 3 ways or something bolted directly into the parcel shelf steel whcih is getting some carpet trim...and i want to remove the 6x9s i have in the doors, again for lighter 6.5" splits.

Simplifying my stereo should make the car about 8-10kgs lighter :(

I have been to Ben myself for an alarm and full audio install.

Very above board person and was happy to help out. The alarm actually had a few glitches and when I called him up he was honestly embarassed about it and insisted I got it back down to him asap. He fixed it all up and everythings been going along fine since.

He even got me the audio gear at cost which was a bonus. Like Ash mentioned, check Vic members for full details.

PAC - Highly recommend Phatt Audio Concepts in Braeside
