I've always wondered how the government seems to forget the most simple pillars of our laws just to make a buck. I really think someone could really make a killing sueing the government for all these types of offences, speeding, exhaust, ride height, running red lights. "Innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers" I think is the sentence in common law and thats the way it should be.

mate that is the scenario for criminal offences and trials. but these sorts of matters are ones of administration - think immigration, customs etc - where the government bodies (ie. vicroads) are given broad powers to, say, check your exhaust dB levels to make sure they comply with regulations in the interests of the greater community.

don't get me wrong i think it's taken a bit too far myself, but i'm just telling you how it is. and before you ask, yes there are mechanisms in place to keep these authorities in check - how effective they are is another matter altogether.

oh and in case you were wondering, i have studied this sort of thing before.

Personally I havent studied it in any sort of detail besides a bit of a skim read over the basics. How is it that the government justify it, if you are being made to make any sort of recompense to the government for an offence should that require you being found guilty of the offence in a court? Seems alot like extortion to me. Do as we say or we take your license.

Hey, Finally got my test done today and passed at 87dB

Quick rant: the mf at the exhaust shop tested my car 5times because he didnt believe the reading! he said it should be louder........now i was pissed at the fact that he held my car at 5100rpm for quite a while and 5 times.........he probably wanted to make more money out of me.

Anyways the only thing i changed was the catalytic converter back to the compliance one, still have my 3.5inch s/s system on etc.

how long did he hold it there for? did you say anything?

i'm guessing he was waiting for the steel wool to disintergrate :P

A looooong time, my oil temps reached almost 90degrees.

Now normally i would say something but he could be a prick back and say oh its over 90dB.....now that would make my life much worse.

Now booked back in to pop the race cat back in lolz.........im taking my anger out on the environment now :-P
