All the rules seem fine with me. Only thing I'd like clarification on is the FIA seat thing, as mine have expired and I'm not willing to get new ones.

Reading the latest CAMS mag I recall there was an article re disregarding the ruling on seat expiration and also lengthening harness expiration :P

where do you sighn up for that.

why cant i run in opens, why is there a seperate class for v8? doesnt seem necessary.

I'll take your case up with ian mate. surely he can see sense in that. maybe first prize a bottle of canadian club and a free entry pass to mens gallery would be appropriate?

Ahhh good stuff. I have the mag sitting on my desk, I'll take a look through it. I had heard about the harness thing, which was quite annoying as I just sold my Willans to buy 2 new ones ( :/ ), but the news on the seat is good.

Richard, I like your idea either way, so motion is passed :(

Can i drink the Can Club at MGs? That sounds like a weekend worthy of flying up to Sydney for ! :(

Seat belts are now legal for 5 years after the exipry date printed on them, in practice that means 10 years use.

I've got to be honest I don't see why anything would be required safety wise above CAMS requirements if this is a CAMS event, it just makes it more difficult for serious race cars to enter. For example general seat requirements do not require FIA approval (up to national level events) and are detailed in Schedules A to K along with all other safety requirements

PRO: Invite only. Cars doing sub 1.15s, around 10 cars total. Cars like Lotus, Lofty, Mark/Russ, Garth Waldo/BEL. These are the serious machines. If I was running Penlingtons Zed again, this is probably where it will end up.

OPEN: Well it is open. This is what I will be running the S2000 in. Still want to know the exact rules on this classes re carbon doors, non glass windows etc which I think should not be allowed but hey that is me.

fully behind you there. If you have a car with cf doors, boot, lexan windows, brake bias, pedal boxes, you need an invite into pro if you are quick enough...

looking forward to here some clarification on some of these issues.

The FIA approved and in date seat thing seems far to much of an overkill for me too... :D

Let them keep their carbon doors etc, it means when I t-bone them the leg they use to stand on the loud pedal wont work so well :D

But i joke, but that is my concern for cars running funny doors and windows. If they have carbon doors they NEED to have CAMS "inspected" cages with side intrustion! No car that is slower then a V8 Sueprcar but quicker then an old Group A car should be able to short change such a huge safety issue. Especially at a place like OP where side intrusion and roll over are a bigger concern then perhaps normal.

I will also add the Clerk or Course was a nice guy and very experienced, but perhaps did not take the event seriously enough last time based on his reponse to one car running into another.

would it be unusual for a car to be running all the mentioned gear to run slower, that would be weird.

Hey guys,

Sorry I have not been on to answer questions have been flat out sorting some things out and other work. I will have a read through the whole thread today and answer everyones questions. If you are after immediate clarification on something you are best to email me at [email protected]

From the short bit of this thread that I have read most questions are regarding the rules listed on the Yokohama website. Please remember that they are only Supplementary rules and are still subject to change. Full regulations will be available next week so please hold out for them. The only things that may change from next weeks ones are if Cams believe there should be more safety regulations.

Ok I have re read the whole thread  Most of you guys are asking about rules please hold out untill next week as we will be releasing an updated version of them as the ones listed now do need some fine tuning but we needed to give people an idea of what was going on in each class.

We are hoping that by having the likes of Mark, Russell, Bel Garage and BSM running in a separate class is going to get people to move up to Open. So many entrants last year were telling us that they wanted to run on Semi Slicks but did not want to compete against the before mentioned, well here is there chance. We have moved all the extremely serious cars up to a class of their own so that the club racer with a modified car on semi slicks will now be competitive. A lot of the cars entered in Clubsprint Class last year had their times limited by Tyres which is exactly what we had intended to happen. Some of the GTR's were struggling to get power to the ground or get the car handling correctly. Next years events will allow more people to run on Semi Slicks and be competitive.

is the date 100% fixed?

Nathan, it's still hard to be competitive for enthusiasts to race in a field of pro or instructor level drivers. Most pro drivers are at least 3 seconds per lap faster than us mere mortals on an average track. There are not much you can do to the engine or tyres to get that much faster. IMHO the current rules will promote a lot of cheque book racers ie owners with pro drivers in the open class.

Is there any chance we have "pro/hired driver" and "owner-driver" brackets in the open class? I am sure this will give more incentives for people in the sprint class to move to the (owner-driver) open class.

Welcome to motorsport :P

Hey Nathan, you say the GTR's struggled to put power down on the crap tyres.............what about everybody with 2WD :D

That is motorsport. I agree.

If you cant stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.

I for one couldn't care if John or anyone else was competing in my category. If im a good enough competator then ill earn my position on the results table and thats where Id belong.

No use complaining because there is always going to be someone better/faster than you.

If im top 5 great if im bottom 5 well thats were I belong for the given day. Suck it and shake the winners hand and learn from it all.

No use changing classes to suit various Hybrid cars either.

Look at the rules, build the best car you can afford within the guidlines and go compete.
