As I have bought a new car and am currently waiting (ever so patiently) for my R33 Skyline beast to sell, I now need a new battery (must remember to drive the girl occationally this time round). What battery is everyone using & how happy with the performance and price have you been?

Also if anyone is using wet (acid) battery's.........how safe is it being located in the boot with the fuse compartment?

I bought the battery for my R33 from Supercheap, just a Bosch maintenance free lead acid one. Just make sure you take some measurements of the battery and the battery terminals before you buy, you want one that fits lol

As for safe battery location, it is probably just as safe there as under the bonnet, as long as you keep it secured.

the only problem with the battery in the boot is that the boot is almost completley sealed whereas tho bonnet is not. so the bonnet breathes and the hydrogen gas (EXTREMLEY EXPLOSIVE) that is produced when lead acid batteries charge is vented out. but in the boot it can build up and a spark... well you get the picture... in the boot you would be better getting a FULLY SEALED battery which can be quite expensive. even most maintenance free batteries are still vented.

yes but with the maintenance free batteries such as the DIN53LMF from century...there is a pipe that breathes to the atmosphere and out through the floor of the boot. this is how skylines are complianc ed and come from factory. if you dont have the pipe and the sealed top of the batterey, its defectable.
