MR CASSBO, On the above topic, I guess you cruise around doing 60 in a 60 zone and no taking off from the lights with a little bit of enthusiasm. I thing you took what i said as i wanted to race, not so, if your near one of these cars and take of a bit quick I'm sure they will say you tried to race them.
thats where your wrong dude..........

theyre moving away from comon ss and falcons

Northsore police have an Mitsubishi EV05 & CBD has a Blue 2003 WRX.....BOTH WITH

"p - PLATES!"

so YOU......might wana be careful rather than come to that assumption

*Face palm...*

I'll mention now that more often than not I pull off from the lights very quickly and that my driving record isn't exactly clean, but what I'm trying to say that it seems to be a little stupid to do these kind of things if someone is egging you on. The potential is there for it to be a cop so why bother? Not only that, do you get a trophy for winning? Any prize money? A kiss on the cheek? Seems to be very little returns for a fairly high risk...

mlr - I'm sorry if you interpreted what I said to mean that I thought you wanted to race, I just wanted to say I have no sympathy for street racers who get caught. Believe me, if I thought you wanted to race, I would have got up you for setting a bad example for your son :)

Jamie - I think you are missing the point... while the police might get a EVO here, a WRX there and a Lotus Exige in Bankstown, why risk getting stung by trying to race a vehicle commonly known as a police car? Considering more different cars are becoming police cars, why bother racing at all? It costs $110 for a speed off the street day at Wakefield and $120 for a private practice day at Eastern Creek. Much cheaper than most speeding fines and impound fees in my opinion.

No need to be 'careful' if you obey the road rules.

That pretty much sums it up :)

Cops no longer have visable antenna, this was seen by many of us, blabbed about on forums and removed from police vehicles.

They also have a Twin Turbo Supra - Black in Rockdale area.

i guess the long and the short of it is...shouldnt race anybody now days

I saw about 10 ss comodes today, mostly unmarked and all in bright colours, bright green being the most popular. Massive blitz on the Prices hwy between a bit south of Wollongong and Sydney. Every single one of them was in the process of booking someone.

Hmmm I've noticed Thursday being the prime day up here in Sydney on the Eastside for cops to have their blitzes.

Most common places are Rushcutters Bay, next to UTS and just after Syd-einfield drive.

Came home from my final exam a few Thursdays ago and they were EVERYWHERE lol.

To let you all know. I seen a white ford Teritory BBO-54T(something like that) undercover cop car

doing a high speed U-turn on great western highway the otherday.totally stock on outside.

Also,If you drive down Victoria St in Wetherill Park.(Near DRIFTMOB's new shop) You will see this big RTA place

with a whole bunch of marked cop cars and UN-marked cop cars in and around it. ALSO you will notice a brand new FULLY marked Lancer EVO cop car amongst others.

i personally think unmarked polcie car a good idea...

its proven effective..... so many people caught.

and as they said...when people see a marked police car, they modify thier driving.

but eveyrthing has its pros and cons.

the disadvantages of unmaked cop cars is people impersonating police if they are unmarked or undercover.

young girls can be targeted for sexual assault.

Is the point of the exercise to catch people speeding, or for them not to speed in the first place?

since u were such a smart arse in the last post

well here is a pic anyways of a Marked oine................

Sorry but that is a Victorian TMU car. If it makes you feel better, I am a smart arse to everyone.

There is only the one EVO X that is being fitted out now. There are no others and never been any evo's in NSW. Apart from the 3 HWP WRX's that ceased service in 2001, there has only ever been a blue one attached to Wetherill Park. There have never been supras, skylines, silvias or anything. never ever ever.........full stop

They also have a Twin Turbo Supra - Black in Rockdale area.

I will be the first to say I am not always right. I have never seen nor heard of any of these car being used for traffic or any kind of enforcement duties.

All I ask for is a pic of these supposed NSW Skylines, supras, evos etc. There are a lot of these "sightings" but not much pics. A bit Loch Nessish.

:P

never say "never"

and plus.....so what if its just a sighting.......

wtf you gonna do......."oh wow......undercover cop supra...quick wheres my camera"

you just end up driving past.......remmebring it and then obviously and then f$% off out of there...........

who would bother taking pics anyways...you dont get paid for being a whistle blower

so what if its victorian?

it shows you there are variations in cop cars....marked or unmarked......

only be a matter of time till they get skylines...im waiting for that day they get silvias and 200sx......

theyre gonna catch so many Mofo hoons...........

if it makes you feel any better lets make a suggestion to them in thier suggestion box to get supras ans skylines + 200sx?

lol @ the thought of being thrown into the back of a Skyline/Supra/200SX cop car, being the sizable coupes they are.

Personally, I don't see the police force investing in second hand cars to be made into patrol cars, especially ones that where never Australian delivered. The potential of inheriting a problem from the previous owner would be too high, whereas a brand new Falcon or Commodore carries less risk.

true...but if they use that kind of car for highway patrol, its not used to transfer suspects..

they will only be used soley for the purpose to encourage people doing something stupid.

but like i said, its a good idea for a non domestic car unmarked...

since i live in the west.....everytime i see a s15 200sx for e.g

i picture a "fully hectic bro" driving it..so that will really throw people off if it was under cover

Ive heard mention of a Gemi and Soarer in Sydney on this forum spotted recently with big radar (lidar I believe? Teecal can correct me lol) hanging off the side..

Gemi had queen street stickers from memory and Soarer was green? Parked on side of road im sure someone can link..

Why couldnt they use impounded cars? or maybe owners donate the cars to reduce impounded time or somthing? you know how they work deals (ive seen CSI!)

^^^ Using impounded cars is too logical for Mr Keystone.

Besides, would any enthusiast ever trust his car in the hands of Plod? Have you seen how some Cop cars end up?

And do you know how many NSW Plods are reported to have been caught exceeding the speed limit in '08?

Maybe we should kiss and make up. I thought this was a NSW thread and thats why I said it.

Exactly. Police cars are leased and not bought. No fleet manager would want the risk of cars that do not have warranty

I see threads over and over on these forums about people being caught by unmarked car. There is a lot of talk of "Sneaky, "corrupt", "entrapment" and the like. Imagine if they were caught in this manner.

Yes Decim8 you're wrong. Its not a Gemini, it's a Datsun 120y :P

Confiscated cars were never considered. It is not legislated and the liabilty is too high. Can you imagine what would happen to a confiscated vehicle if it was used for a few months and then returned to the owner. The owner would not want it back.

Recent confiscation of proceeds of crime legislation doesnt not even allow the use of siezed assets. Everything is sold

    • I chose a bad time to buy, at the time there was no gtst's for sale in NSW and my options were qld, vic, or sa and not the greatest examples or too far out of my budget. Ended up picking this one from adelaide sight unseen and got a bit stitched up as you could expect but i dont fully regret it, its just a shame people cant be more transparent in this day and age.
    • IMO just buy a whole R33 transmission and swap the whole thing. Use a palm nailer/air hammer with a roll pin punch to drive the shifter rod end roll pins out. The rod end is discontinued so don't break it. Use gasket dressing on the OEM paper gasket instead of RTV. I personally would not pry on the shifter cover tabs, I broke one trying that instead of just smacking the side with a dead blow rubber mallet to shock it loose from the RTV the last mechanic applied. If you can't get the flanges totally clean and free of any residual RTV and/or you might have a gap that is bigger than it should due to flange damage use RTV on that surface instead of the OEM specced anaerobic sealer. Anaerobic sealer is most likely the right sealant for the job, it's just too easy to mess it up with too large a gap or bad surface prep/roughness seemingly. If you do rebuild what you have it's for a whole gearset that can take high torque. Don't bother with OEM at that point.

    • Full e85 barrell stuff real world for reference if it helps as Ive pushed 2 x sets injectors to limit Above mentioned Bosch 1480cc run on 4 bar base to the apparent 1650cc on rb2.7 yielded 912hp / 684  kw  at 92% duty on hub dyno ID1700's - RB 2.8 ...1015hp / 760 kw at 87% duty - hubber dyno + shown off data on track my opinion IF you change injectors just go bigger than you think you need the modern/ good larger ones run just fine if tuned properly even if way bigger than required even on streeters
