I got pulled over for an RBT + Defect on a saturday afternoon not long ago by an orange typhoon in Northmead.

But in terms of racing - i never race on the streets, and i always slow down if i see a current model ss/hsv/typhoon/xr6-8/etc.

I usually shake my head at any wanker trying to race me, and i'd love to come across an undercover cop revving at me with his borrowed car.

It seems the idea of under cover police cars is working perfectly... You never know if its a police car or not...

They've managed to turn every SS/HSV/Typhoon/XR6/8 into a police car in peoples eyes...

Good job NSW Police! I approve!

XKLABA, I'm not sure about you, but most people I know when driving along, when they see a new Holden or Ford commodore, they head straight back to the speed limit. Why? Because we have so many unmarked cars around my area.

So basically, what has happened, instead of everyone slowing when they see the police car, they're slowing for every car that "could" be a police car.

So now, by using an unmarked car, you've affectively turned every new model Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon into a speed deterrent... And you know what, they've had to spend no money doing it... ;)

Their whole idea of "Any where, any time" is true, and that idea, is what is slowing more and more people down.

Oh, as to the 30 points thing, I'm not sure if you understand the points, but basically every offence in the actual law, has a points rating (NOT DEMERIT POINTS), most offences are 6 points... That means in a 12 hour shift, they need to book 5 people...

Ever driven on the freeway for one hour, smack on the speed limit and seen how many people speed past?

I'd usually have 2 - 3 HIGHSPEED speeders go past (Talking 130 - 140+ KM/H) yet alone those sitting on 120 in a 100 zone...

ok so what your saying is everyone you know speeds until they see a "new holden or ford commodore" and then they slow down. why?

100% of people that drive know what a marked police car is and 100% of people that drive at least look at there speedo and slow down if they have creeped over the limit when they see a marked police car, how many do you think know the difference between HWP and GD or what a "new falcon or commodore" is or the fact they could be a undercover police car, so which do you think is a better deterrent

something everyone knows or something most people know.

and how much do you think they spent on all the cars they have so you will think any falcon or comodre could be a police car, cost nothing yeah right.

"any where any time" what a load of sh!t, while everyone is still learning about "any where any time " we still have people dieing on the roads, where if the visual deterent of a marked car was out and about more people would slow down and there fore get where they are going.

don't get me wrong i respect the police and what they do and your right undercover cars slow down people, who know what they are.

Oh as the 30 points thing goes i have no dears eyes how it works nor do i care, it was something told to me by someone i had no reason to believe was lying to me and i can't remeber why i even typed it. given that how many offences would carry 6 points and how many would carry 1 and everthing inbetween, now if there is a quoter or not i don't know but as you said there is a points system which makes me wonder why if there is no difference in how many offences are handed out.

i still say the only way to not get caught is not speed, if you speed and get caught don't winge

Dood, people in an old retirement home can tell you what a new commodore is. A friend of mine when questioned "What do you think of my car" by another friend, responded with "It's white" because she knows nothing on cars, knows what a new commodore and ford is.

Those that speed, slow down for them.

Go Hire a brand new Commodore or Ford, take it for a drive on the freeway, see how many people slow down as they approach you, draw level, look over, and then speed off again when they realise it's not a police car.

Also, do you know how I know "100% of people that drive at least look at there speedo and slow down if they have creeped over the limit when they see a police car" is a crock of shit? Because so many people get caught speeding.

i have friends that don't know the difference (mostly female and not australian)

so it slows then down for a second and geuss what off they go again, where a marked car they slow down and don't speed off again and by having more on the road the chances are they would drive upto more police cars

they get caught by unmarked cars and cars hiding behind tree so you can't see them till its to late, which i see every day,or them standing behind parked truck or in bushes and there cars tucked away so it can't be seen

Only people who like cars or are enthusiasts slow down whenever they see a new SS or XR6T/F6. To think otherwise is just ignorant. I've had my GF ask me what "that" is? And it was a VE ute. If someone likes cars, they'll know, if they don't, they won't. It's that simple.

"where if the visual deterent of a marked car was out and about more people would slow down"

At our command we have only 1 unmarked. The rest are marked.

I prefer the unmarked!

fair call, may i ask why you prefere unmaked ?

gotta say as much as i would hate to do what you and see what you have to see,$100,000K to cruise around in a new F6 all day would be awsome, just not dealing with w4nk3rs all day

Things tend to happen right in front of your eyes in the unmarked, with the marked you have to hide a lot more. I'm only in an XR6T also, and it's usually marked, only the taipan boys get F6's :(. Taipan is like the specialist HWP of HWP. They can go anywhere in the state instead of anywhere in their local command.

does that mean they are like SAS of the HWP or that they book other rozzers and everyone hates them/is Jelly.

Taipan is a pretty cool name i must admit, do they get up in the morning and go "'bugger it lets go on a roadtrip to broken hill and see how many poor bastards we can get for doing ten over!" or do they have to stick to a vague general area.

(sorry if sounding bitter, seen pretty lights in mirrors far too often though not for years now)

you want to drive a truck around and see how stupid people get to get around you, it amazes me want some people think is ok for them to do or just to ignorant to know better, Taipan is located next to a mates work at eastern creek, so we see lots of them around my area, lots and lots of them

yeah i used to drive government buses (scary thought huh) and i would see at least a dozen violations before lunchtime.

In that light i can see the need for undercover cars as so many people wilfully take their own and others lives in their hands if they have the slightest inkling they will get away with it.

The only issue with HWP i have is the hiding in the bushes like the proverbial stagecoach robbers of old, "guns" pointing directly at unsuspecting travellers.. everything else they do from spotting broken tail lights to nabbing drunk drivers is massively important and without a doubt saves lives.

So until a bit more commensense comes into the equation and they are focusing on the stuff that is actually dangerous they are always going to have that love/hate relationship with the public.

...like the one on Pacific Hwy just south of Pt Macquarie?

Our anglican pastor got caught on the way up to a conference.

Lo' and behold, he got caught again on the way back down - lol

1st ticket in >30 yrs. Then he gets 2 in 4 days!

Last two HWP I saw were on the Hume highway both doing Radar Duty.

One was parked on the flat, not hidden.

Second was parked up on the hill so it was raised up for a better view (Alright, so the copper was a smart ass and parked a green car on green grass, but in perfect view)

Both coppers clearly visible...

But then to compensate we get the ones who hide behind the colour bond fences out near my dads.

on the flat, not hidden."

nice, if only they were all so considerate. Dont know how they do it on those 35 plus degree days, even with aircon on it would be pretty hellish..still kinda hard to muster up to much sympathy. Oh and we know at least one of them is going to hell in a handbasket now (re your pastor Terry :P)

was sitting behind an orange XR8 at the lights turning onto great western highway just after the eastern creek exit, we get the green arrow left and as soon as we pull out he guns it and pulls into the left lane to let me pass. Probably hoping i would fly past for an easy score, instead i pull in behind him as well nice and slow while the P plater in the raised late model Hilux behind me roars past both of us at a fair clip. Obviously didnt get too far...

i trundled on and had an awesome track day only marred by darkness and an errant wall bound Honda DC5.

It's only know fun cause you don't get to unleash every pony as often as possible with sirens blaring... f**k knows I'd take every chance to do 180 flick spins and give chase!

RB25... Any chance of somehow getting a single shift with you to "see how it is" and give me more inspiration to join?

There's 3 reasons I haven't applied, firstly license record, just before I went to apply, got pinged, by the time i Spey 12 months being good, I'm unfit anniversary weight... Plus a colour deficiency...

All you have to do is use your imagination, that's essentially what HWP is. It is EXACTLY what I thought it was. You are essentially untouched, what I mean by that is. You do what you want for your shift, if you want to sit in a particular street in a particular suburb, you can. If you wanna cruise around, get a coffee and relax, you can. If you wanna "insert anything here"; you can.

There are certain obligations like 1 hour of RBT and everything but that's good anyway, it breaks up the day and it's always a good laugh.

Today I got a 7 month pregnant lady, driving unreg xr6 turbo, on her green P's. However I do have a conscience, she didn't know about the restrictions about turbos etc and she's about to start a family. A bit harsh to give her drive prohib vehicle... which is 7 (so automatic loss of license) demerit points and uhm $430? or more, I forget.

Everyday is a good laugh, I love it. I'd do it for free. Tonight I scissor paper rocked this P plater for not wearing his P plates... -- I won, but laughed and still let him go.

As for your driving record, how bad is it? Can't hurt to apply, although if you can't run 6k's you'll struggle in goulburn... It's a pretty damn slow jog but still.

Best jerrrrb ever. Yeah I'm giving out tickets and it's evil, but seriously most people deserve it and I don't usually give out anything under over 20 so I don't feel too bad usually.

PS: The 180 flick spins aren't that much fun with the traction control on (which we must keep on!) down.gif

When the obstacle course was in Sydney City (yeah, I'm that old), some girls heard about hypnotherapy to help them get "Over-The-WALL" lol.

I must have had 4 ladies in a 12 month period - and one still couldn't get over it.

Goulburn doesn't have a 'WALL' anymore.

I don't know why it was mainly girls that had trouble with "THE WALL" since generally they have longer legs. Yep, all psychological.
