Now that SAUQLD is a CAMS affiliated club, if we were to hoist a couple of skyline only hill climb days at Mt Cotton with full timing would many you motor sport guys be interested? We would be looking at capping the events to 20 – 30 cars.

Discuss.

Definitely! Its a top idea Josh! I'd be up for that, I love Mt Cotton and haven't run there for over a year. 30 cars would get heaps of runs too. Good way for people to learn the place.

Only hitch is I'm not a member for SAU QLD and I don't currently have a Skyline! But I do have my eye on one now that I sold my Datto track car - btw Ben I might need to chat about RB20 mods in the not too distant future  But if I don't end up with this Skyline, it could be a bit of fun to allow the Supra in if you need to fill up numbers when it all happens??? I can just imagine the pitlane banter!

Yeah I'd love to have a run there as I've never done it. I'm not a Qld member either but can soon organise that :)

Johhny-O will come in his GTR, as I assume Ben will too.

Harry Harry Harry, what have you done?!?! lol

Would be interested, except would need clarification on noise restrictions!!! ?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply lads! In an ideal world we’d love to have member only events similar to other established clubs, but from a numbers prospective it’ll be opened up to members and forums members.

2009 will be the first year for SAU to be a CAMS affiliated club, so we understand we need to “create” events to cater to everyone for people to want to sign up

Harry, I don’t see an issue with the odd one or two cars not being a Skyline. Makes for some rivalry and SAUQLD is just about enthusiasts as much as owners. How come you sold the GTR?

Michael off the top of my head Mt Cotton is somewhere around 96db – 98db, all be it a rather lenient restriction when I’ve been there at least.

cool. I think it was temporary insanity??? I sold it for the 230rwkw Datsun 1200 coupe, but I always regretted it. I may have another Skyline very soon anyway and if that comes through I'll join SAU now that they've got CAMS affiliation.

yeah the noise isn't too much of an issue at Mt Cotton. I think they say 95dB, but my CA18DET Datsun 1200 just ran an open side pipe and never got pinged for noise there!

I'll second wrxkilla's Morgan Park suggestion too, but having been involved in runing events there in the past with SPARC you find alot of people think its a bit far to go. Its definitely worth driving the extra hour past QR IMO. They have a pretty full calendar though so that would pretty much have to be a weekday thing I'd say.

Unfortunately it’ll have to be a day at MP. One of the Execs has a pretty good report with the people who run it, so exact date TBA.

230rwkw 1200 would almost be as much fun as the GTR I’d image, if not more. I have some Dato mates, one with a 1600 coupe and the little old L banger can bring a smile with its 100hp? :P

I second the above comments, we will have to offer it to the members first but I think but all should be welcome.

It may just help break down stigma's if we can include other manufacturers fan bases & promote the 'car lover-regardless' idea

from memory the Gold Coast shire section is 92db, not sure what Redlandshire restrictions are but 95-96db comes to mind(guesstimation from old mans reticent memory-thats me :D )

I'd be interested in coming up there if dates suit and you guy's want a cockroach invading.

Neil.

absolutely. I will bring something up too. even the volvo if need be.

keep saunsw updated and we will bring along some cars as well as Neil and myself. We were going to do a road trip anyway (Russ owes me a beer or 10) and I would rather support a SAU QLD event.

We can do that :D There Drags on the 20th Dec, come along to that if you can

    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
    • Doing a refresh of my 33 and can see a few websites stating they sell the entire main carpet for our cars, but they all have generic photos which is fine, i understand they are custom made to order.  Just seeing if anyone has got it done or had any experience with this, as i would only want to do it if the fit and finish was as good as oem https://carmatsdirect.com.au/products/moulded-carpet-or-vinyl-for-nissan-skyline-r33-1993-1998-coupe https://knoxautocarpets.com.au/moulded-carpets/nissan/skyline/skyline-r-33-1993-1998/
