Rang revs for 32 GTR and asked if they could also check to see if had any outstanding defective vehicle notices on it, they couldnt and told me to ring the police and get it checked that way, but i dont feel like poking a sleeping bear if you get my drift, ie unwanted heat for the current owner, im sure he wouldnt be happy if the cops started looking into his stuff.

Any ideas on how to find out without waking smokey.

ok not 100% (correct me if im wrong) but defects are only issued by nsw police. the rta only do tests after a defect has been issued - they arnt a "issuer" of defects, they only clear them up. I guess the rta would have a record/tracking system of cars with defects, but only after a car has had corrective action applied to the vehicle. police are your best bet.

Hmmmm,

This a Q I hadn't thought of before. Yeh interesting!

Tez

rta, all defects are logged and cleared through them.

Say if you had a defect and didn't clear it, the first thing to happen would be suspension of registration.

It's not a criminal offence, it's a traffic/roads issue.

The police just write the tickets ect..ect
