How do I quieten my stock blow off valve without putting my air box back in? I have a FMIC and the box doesn't fit anymore because of the cooler piping :D

I took my car to the licensing centre to get my yellow off but they said I have to quieten the bov somehow, and then they'll give me a permit for my cooler and my pod filter

I admit it's pretty loud, but it's totally stock!

What can I do!

Cheers :)

JiMiH my stocker bov was f'in loud when i had to get mine registered, they couldnt say a thing though because the compliance engineer had passed the air filter I had and therefore theres no possible way to shut the damn thing up!

I hate the sound of the standard one, its so bloody loud its not funny.

R33's must have the recirc pipe further down the line. I think the problem on the R32 occurs because the recirc pipe joins right before the air filter.

Just take the standard one off and bolt a plate over the hole, its not illegal NOT to have a bov now is it! Just get the yellow off and put the bov back on.

Cheers for the replies guys :)

That's a good idea about putting a plate over the whole thing i might just do that .... failing that I'll be up to your house Steve :)

I went to the Welshpool pits (they also didn't pass me because I have a chrome-look cup on my boost guage :) )

How do you put up with that shit?!!?

I admit, I haven`t been in Oz for quite a while, but that is just freekin crazy! On what grounds would they not pass you for chrome on a boost guage? Did I just type that...? *chrome on a boost guage*... yes I did...

The reason for pillar mounted guages being a problem is if they are within a certain radius of your head (can't remember number)and could be struck by it in an accident. Vision wise, as they are off to the side I don't believe they are a problem.

i have Blitz BOV on my car and i have it permitted as well as my Filter and FMIC. on my permit sayd BOV not to be too loud hahah thast the funniest shit i have ever heard coz it is loud as f@#k. I went to welshpool. They didnt pass my pillar guage coz yes was chrome and the light reflection was the only problem. I taped it up with tape and toook it back over (they passd it) its all a crock of BS if you ask me. My car handles and stops better than most cars out there yet i still get yellows for mods even if they are improvements. But what can you do. Cops should learn a little about cars and mods b4 they go out in the world and tell us what is and isnt wrong.

With little choice, its a police state here, ironically, they'll sticker a jap import for stupid reasons, yet a smokeing POS with bald tyres and rust throughout will drive on by and not get a second look

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
