Do you know any international students? International licenses don't have any demerit points, so if youi can get them to say they were driving then you'll have to pay the fine but atleast you won't lose any points.

p.s. I agree on not wasting money on a laywer for such a small fine. A lot of lawyers charge at least $200-$300 per hour which is much more than your fine.

Yea I'm using my international license, which is why I can go up to 0.05 while i'm 19 lol but i'm not that stupid...I'm stupid...not that stupid....if you REALLY need that point you can put it on one of my licensese

You can generally get away with it if it was your first speeding offence. Make sure you make reference to your clean driving history throughout the years you have been driving (if it is a significant time).

Also, if there were any specific reasons that you may have been distracted or have had your mind on something else, be sure to put that in too. Just don't try to deny speeding. :)

Ca Ching - This man is on the money. I got caught 2 years ago by the one on the reverse side of the Altona bridge, city bound. Wrote a nice letter to the issuing officer making reference to my clean history and priding myself on it. I received a letter back informing me that speed limits are there for my safety etc and consider it removed (fine and 1 point).

Only time it won't work (as a rule) is on P plate offences from the info others have said.

That was my first and only offence I was caught for.

Hey what, so you agree if he tells the police/court/trafic infringment office he was distracted and not concentrating whilst driving he should get off.

Groovy. :) I have an odd feeling that may not work... lol

contesting

Court costs Solicitor etc and mounting the case $3000

Expert witness to refute detected speed $1500

Cameras on WRR have been proven to detect speeds incorrectly historically so a few good precedents to work from

Looking at approx $4000 to contest.

If you win all paid for by Goverenment, lose your out of pocket 4k and fine and most likely driving record gets looked at and the fine can go up!
