seems similar to the Sliding Performance 360degree journal bearing oil & water cooled RB25 highflow

they were ~$800 with a years warranty, rear wheel looks very similar too. front housing seems to be ported out more on the Slide unit tho

if anything like the Slide turbo should be good for around 250kws, minimal lag once tuned correctly, decent cost-effective turbo

and if its anything like the scond batch of slide ones it will be like every other hand grenade

Go a GCG if you are hell bent on a high flow bbut i reckon you better off buying a new turbo if you on the hunt for more power

It all depends on what you do as calling it “high flow”.

What we do is:

Re-profile both factory compressor and turbine housings.

Assemble profiled housings onto ATR28 450HP profile core assemble.

So basically its a brand new turbo with your factory housings for direct bolton purpose.

All ATR turbochargers are covered with 12 month warranty for performance usage.

i was one of the early hypergear haters as i had a few fail (years back) and refused to tune or touch them but about 3 months or so back i finally bowed to cusomer pressure and i have had a bit of hypergear stuff come through and i can honestley say for vaue (kw vs $$$ )for money it certainly is hard to beat, customer service is spot on, they are also built locally in melb by probably australias 2nd best turbo tech shop (behind GCG) so the background tech and actual assy should be 2nd to none (or only one :P ).

so if you cant afford a garret or boutique brand the hypergear is about the only thing i'll touch atm.

In relations to going from std rb25 turbo on a rb20 to say the TR43 turbo.....

do i just plumb the 2 water lines together? and everythings fine?

will i need a new dump pipe flange? i don't understand this v-band thing it talks about.

good chance ill need to modify the (std)intercooler piping aswell or not?

Cheers.

Nice input there Uras.

Ive got the Slide turbo, gave him 2x dead turbos (1xrb20 and 1xrb25) and ~$500 and got a max-ported rb25 highflow in return

Rear wheel looks similar if not same to the Hypergear unit mentioned, the front porting was fair extreme tho :P

Oil and Water cooled, mine hasnt missed a beat in 2yrs of use; getting tuned with Tomei camshafts and other goodies right ATM (head porting and assembly work finished today)

expecting a nice lazy (figure of speech as lag is stock-like) 230kwish for the next few yrs. Should get 5yrs / 50,000kms out of it.

If the Hypergear highflow is anything like the Slide batch-1 highflows then the customer will NOT be disappointed. Huge value for money at $800.

Would like to see some end dyno results with modified RB25's with the Hypergear, could use one in a few years time myself.

so 800 buckeroonies. Is that them sending you a new redone turbo or is that you sending them your turbo and them doing the work?

If its a new one. How muc is it to get one done if you supply the stock rb25 turbo in good condition.

I have a hypergear tr43 on mine, just finally got fully tuned at sams last week. got about 15-16psi, I wasent going for power as much as response and torque.

I dont have the graph infront of me, but I will have a topic up later on tonight, to see what people think, but to give you and idea... on my n/a engine with the hypergear bolted on, i have around 12 psi at 2650rpm in 4th gear, by approx 3000rpm I think im already around 150kw...

so it made a really good powercurve on my car IMO.

Adam

Thanks for support every one. Since start of 07 we've taking lot of advice from different turbo builders, absorbing different theories and put all creative thinking into new ATR turbocharger manufacturing. We do thanks to Trent, Sam, Nick and all other tuners and forum members who participated in tuning and testing of the new product.

The ATR28 450HP profile we made 255rwkws on a CA18det, RB25 should be making towards 270rwkw with excellent turbo response. We are working a the ATR43 at this stage. Building Aluminium models for sand casting at this stage. This will be a "small looking" direct Bolt on turbo for R33 to produce around 280rwkws.

At this stage we perfer to use Sleeve bearings turbo system. Ball bearing is optional at additional cost. ATR43 sample turbos should be ready towards end of Jan comming year for members who are interested to evaluate along with my self.

this was the particular turning point..... i was talking about.

WHTSKY i have not used or had a TR43 in the shop yet... all have been the bigger profiles which seem to pull 220-240

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
