I was at home the other day, surfing through old school Skyline pictures that I downloaded back when I was 14, 15, etc. And it made me think back to when I was in Year 8 and always thought "I wish I owned a GTR". Back then, 32 GTR's were still very expensive, and any 34 GTR's were in the 6 figure price field.

Then, I began reading up on the 32 GTR, how it was nicknamed Godzilla, and how it was basically a super-car for the streets. Ever since then, I wanted a 32 GTR. Back then, I didn't have a clue what a turbo was, but thought having 2 of them would be better than having 1 (and would make me look cooler when I said "My car is TWIN turbo!!)

A few years later, my good mate Ben came around my place with Kye, after he picked up his 32 GTS-t and took me for a spin. I fell in love with the Skyline!!

5 years on, my dream came true (thanks to the big banks and a good paying job) and I got a 32 GTR!

So, I'm wondering, what made you or influenced you, to get your car?

Pretty much the exact same reasons you have listed... the legend, the shape, the power...

I suppose I was sick of driving pieces of shit... the r31 I had was without a doubt the best car I'd driven at that time and the 32 had a number of technical innovations compared to it, so as soon as I could afford one, I got it...

-D

did if for the chicks man the chicks o and to make friends with law enforcement everyone wants to talk to you when you have a skyline.

r34 hadnt come out yet when i started liking the 32 :( i also thought it was slow because i was looking at a n/a skyline on granturismo 1 (i was 13 cut me some slack)

thought it looked cool though so i didnt care and then after seeing r32 gtr sells for like 50k my friends found it hard to believe me when i said im owning that sh*t

thus began the accountant nerd plan in hopes of riches and b*tches turns out accountants dont pull that many chicks dammit. funny the looks on there faces when i pulled up in the car id been crapping on about all those years

well i knew i always wanted a skyline, the sound of the engine, the straight 6 turbo. I was looking around for a long time, 32 gts-t, 33, 32 gts4, then i got my new job. Decided i could probably afford either 32 gtr or 34 gtt. The age of the 34 really did it for me, much newer, better interior, awesome body lines, headlights and taillights, i was sold. As soon as i went for the first test drive in my 34, i never looked back.

well i knew i always wanted a skyline, the sound of the engine, the v6 turbo.

You got an R35 GT-R?? lol

I lusted after the R32 GT-Rs way back when they were in Group A Touring Cars, driven by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife.

I'd long held plans to get a 32 GT-R under the 15 year rule, but the rule was changed before I had scraped enough money together to buy one, so I got an R33 GTS-t instead. Absolutely loved it - such an easy car to get into and feel comfortable driving straight away. Easy to drive it quickly too.

From there I went to an R34 GT-t, and again, it was the driving experience I enjoyed the most about it, and the fact that it just looked so sexy, in my opinion. My wife also fell in love with the 34, and she was the first to suggest we get another one eventually.

In between, I've had a JZX100 Chaser, a series 8 RX-7 and an EP3 Civic Type R (which is still my daily), but none of them come close the the R34 GT-R I've got now. I lusted after a 34 GT-R ever since they were released in Japan, mainly because I was in Japan when they were released! I can still picture the first one I saw on the street, firing up and flicking on the Xenons.

But I love my GT-R for the same reasons I loved my R33 GTS-t - easy to get a comfortable driving position, easy to drive hard, awesome performance, looks sexy while still being fairly practical. Just a really enjoyable car.

I got mine for a change, I've always had rods, cruisers and street/strip cars still have a couple.

For me the Nissan was a cheap, relatively economical car I can turn the key and go, now after 4yrs and a few mods I rate the car highly. big :( for a/c and power steering.

It's made me soft i tells ya!

hmm, ok - always liked the shape of the R33 Skyline, ever since it was complied in Australia, before that tho I loved the 2+2 300zx auto twinturbo

felt it'd be a top car to own but after years of research and lust the R33 overtook the 300zx as the car I wanted.

sat in a 300zx and couldnt get behind the steering wheel due to my long legs, thought uhoh: next

sat in a few R33's hoping theyd be better (4doors, 2doors, sunroof, etc) but alas to no avail, too tight a fit

impossible to fit with the manual, and as the knees had been chopped a few times manual was out of the equation anyway

read a lot more about the Skyline, realy wanted one but found the Stagea.... researched more and more

let prices drop and drop and drop while I enjoyed the VR V8 and my bikes.

sold the 1st house due to the expanding family and overborrowed 15g's to finally grab a RB25det.

Was wagon time for the 2 kids, thats my excuse anyway

After scouring Australia wide for a year looking for my Stagea, then found her; cheapest in aussiland at the time by 2grand at 18k, with Dayz kit and dual sunroof, stockies were 20k plus

flew up to Qld, sat in the Stag to make sure I could fit - couldnt really - handed over the chq and put the bus on the back of a truck, flew home 3hrs later

Stagea arrived a week later, filled her up after the turbo timer finally turned off (ripped it out that week) and sold the VR with only 118000kms on the ex cop V8 sedan, a good car TBH.

stuck with the stag fairly stock for a while, umm like 1month LOL, and started my mods

after a year I had the seat rail extended by pete (66_skyline_gt) and gave him my stock turbo for his effort as Id just had the highflow fitted

when I bought the VR V8 I said Id own for 5yrs and I did, when I bought the Stagea I said Id own for 10yrs. 4yrs now, and another 10 coming !!!!!

So while the Stagea was a compromise on the R33 due to my size, knees and family, I am over the moon about owning THIS car. She is a sweety. hence why Im treating her to some engine internals atm, 'cause I love her so and she deserves only the best.

:(

edit: now is 18K car plus 18K mods . oops

There are so many reasons why im so into skylines. The GTR caught my attention years ago. The shire performance you can get out of such a car. Bang for buck. The capability of the Engines, drivelines etc. The pure fact it was basically built for performance.

I bought my R33, because although I had grown up within a ford family (and still like my fords) I was looking for something that actually handled. While watching the Group A Touring Cars in the late 80s early 90's I developed a great admiration for the 32 GTR. When the time came to buy an import, I considered an R32 GTSt, but couldn't handle the thought of a torqueless motor after driving 4.0L straight 6's and 5.8L V8s - so RB25 was the only option (as GTR was way outa my price range).

So R33 it was. Loved the car to drive, pretty good driving position considering im 6'4 (far better than WRXs, S14s etc) and the torque, power, brakes etc were all to my liking..... THEN the family life started a little sooner than expected and the R33 got sold. Needed a suitable replacement and considered R33 sedan, but was swayed in the direction of a Legnum by the good Chef, and haven't looked back since. Now I love the AWD/AYC combo, and look forward to when I get to drive it (wife claims the car 90% of the time due to having little man!)

Gran Turismo got me into those sexy round tail lights... years down the track I looked at getting a Skyline but couldnt because of the price.... another few years down the track the price was within range and I felt the need for POWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I <3 R33 and all Skylines.

The one thing i do really like about my 33 is that is a pure driving car, There's no traction control, driver assisting, no ABS, pure power, Rear wheel drive, Awesome chassis, Excellent Car feedback, It's loud, Rough and i can feel everything the car is doing. It's a car that needs to be driven. It was designed with handling / performance in mind, not lugging people around.

When I first got into cars, it was nothing but nissans/datsuns in the family. 1600 datto, datto stanza, nissan bluebird, nissan pintara ti, nissan exa... after doing up the old datto and exa I figured it was time to keep nissans in the family. So i went for an R32 GTS with an RB20DET conversion.. loved it to bits, it sounded gorgeous, it handled well and it was the most reliable car of the lot, so saved a few and got an R34. Best decision ever.

I originally wanted a 300zx, but got turned away with bad reviews!!

I was just browsing through cars online and seen my beautifull car I own today....it was love at first sight, I still remember the first time I layed eyes on her!!! I've always been into imports, so treated myself for my 18th birthday lol.

I was into Toyotas and shit before I got my 32. Always used to get beaten by the AE86 in gran turismo 1 when I first played it, so researched them, learnt about RWD, never looked back. Got one, did some shit to it, got over having to thrash the living crap out of it go fast and a few mates had started getting turbos at that time and I got hooked on boost >_<

Always wanted an AE86, an S13 Silvia and a JZX100 Chaser. I did have a bit of a 'background lust' you might call it for R32 coupes (as they have a similar shape to a Silvia, just bigger and tougher but heavier). Anyway I had the 86, had a 180 (but still would've rathered a Sil) and had a JZX100 Chaser, and it was time to get rid of my JZX81 track weapon. Got a few offers of swaps but none of the cars interested me, until I got offered the 32. Was a tough looking example and had all the basics needed to keep drifting, so I made the swap.

I'm still into Toyotas predominantly, but the 32 does the job for now. One day I'll probably be in another JZX100 or if I get lazy (and if they gain import approval) I'm quite taken by the UZS171 Crown Majesta.

I've always been into Nissans and Datsuns, but more old school than new. Shoehorned a few CA18DETs and SR20DETs into older Datsuns that needed them.

Always wanted an R32, but back then they were driven my idiots ... didn't want to be judged on the car I drove.

Bought the Stagea earlier this year due to a broken shoulder keeping me off my bikes and out of any manual car. Saw the Stagea and wanted one. The black s2 Stag wasn't even the one I was going to keep. I bought an s1 silver Stag and s2 black stag with the intention of keeping the s1 and selling the s2. Drove the s2 back from Sydney importers and fell in love with it. I'm now selling the s1 silver Stagea after a mate went silent on the deal.

>_<
